It's impressive how Quest Diagnostics is consistently shitty. Doesn't matter which location you go to, it's bound to suck one way or another.

It's like I can see the future or something.

Man, people are being too optimistic. A deal isn't happening anytime soon (unfortunately).

Harris/Walz would’ve won if those fucking establishment consultant hacks had just gotten out of the way and let them say “These freaks are weird!” every day for three months and you’ll never convince me otherwise

So how's that ground looking 16 days later?

Donald Trump’s State of the Union address tonight has the potential to put his presidency on more stable ground—if he doesn’t get in his own way, Jonathan Lemire tells Will Gottsegen in The Atlantic Daily:

Two days after an ICE agent killed Renee Good in Minneapolis, a federal agent asked an observer, "Have y'all not learned?" Her phone was taken and she was briefly detained. Two days after that, another federal agent said, “You did not learn from what just happened” to a different observer.

More productive for him to argue with Megan Kelly because she's at the same intellectual level as he is. Bad faith actor for TCW=someone who can easily dunk on him day after day.

Thomas Chatterton Williams@chatterton.bsky.social

@jamellebouie.net I’ve been quite clear in condemning the killing. Even a cursory glance at my twitter, IG or even this Bluesky account I barely use shows you’re dishonest. It’s actually more productive to argue with Megyn Kelly than such a bad faith actor as you.

100% spot on

He didn't shoot her in the head at point blank range because he felt like he was in danger. He shot her in the head at point blank range because he was furious that she wasn't afraid of him. He shot her in the head at point blank range because he felt emasculated.

You'd think someone who writes about legal matters so often would know this isn't true. Schumer's reason was kinda true but also not 100% honest.

emptywheel@emptywheel.bsky.social

Trump gets to decide what gets shut down. And Schumer explicitly listed the courts as one of the reasons. So yeah, that would have given DOJ a way to hold off AEA litigation for the 48 hours they wanted.

Not sure how blame for a government shutdown will fall? If this CR doesn't pass, Donald Trump will immediately FLY TO FLORIDA FOR A WEEKEND OF GOLF. Help me figure that one out, pricey political consultants!

2 draft dodgers…Trump,(bone spurs) & Musk, (mom’s Canada connection) have audacity to slash veterans services. They have ZERO connection to these Americans, who put their lives on the line for something bigger than themselves. Every veteran, MAGA or not, needs to protest.

Gotta say I think saving democracy is more important than some dumb trade war Trump is about to launch. Can't stop the war if he destroys democracy.

Chuck Schumer@schumer.senate.gov

When you’re in line at the supermarket next week and prices have gone up, you’ll know who to blame: Donald Trump and his tariffs.

"Sources tell WIRED that the OPM’s top layers of management now include individuals linked to xAI, Neuralink, the Boring Company, and Palantir. One expert found the takeover reminiscent of Stalin."

Dems can't oppose worth shit. This is just pathetic.

Elizabeth Warren@warren.senate.gov

That's right - we should cut government waste. But we're seeing Trump and Musk's plan in action: pausing federal funds that rip school lunch away from preschoolers and end Meals on Wheels for seniors. That's not efficiency, it's cruelty. I have better ideas. www.foxnews.com/opinion/sen-...

No, he's not. Trump is being a dick, that's it.

Mark Cuban@mcuban.bsky.social

Trump is doing what you do after you acquire a company. Crazy I know. But reality. The Dir of NIH should reach out to DOGE and offer to bring them in to remove inefficiencies. There are always some and the Director know what they are. DOGE gets a win. NIH gets back to work.

Time for some bribes and corruption! And God knows what else.

1. BREAKING The White House late Friday fired the independent inspectors general of at least 12 major federal agencies in a purge that could clear the way for President Trump to install loyalists in the crucial role of identifying fraud, waste and abuse in the government.

More from inside NIH: Per a source with knowledge, for all internal research (of which there is like $10 billion worth or so), ALL purchasing shut down as of yesterday. That means gloves, reagents, anything involved with lab work, which means a lot of that work will stop.

The 2017 transition was smooth sailing compared to the shit show this time around. You'd think they'd be better the 2nd time around. Nope!

Gaetz likes to say that the Garland/Biden DoJ exonerated him. But I looked up the dates. The declination to prosecute came the week that Biden’s US Attorney nominee came in. I’d bet my paycheck that Trump holdovers sabotaged this prosecution before the good guys got there.

Too far left. Hahaha, no.

Mark Zaid, Esq@markzaidesq.bsky.social

No doubt generational changes in leadership are important & necessary at appropriate time. But this choice isn't only abt generational change, it is abt ideological. AOC is too far left, which contributed to 2024 Democrat loss. That requires reflection, not reward. We need politics to moderate.

Overhearing a tech (or VC) bro's conversation this morning while waiting to board our flight to SFO this morning (at 6 am) is making me sooo grateful I work in government and don't have to listen to such nonsense on a regular basis.

This story sounds so far fetched. A Republican who became D because of Trump then moved to Oakland? And then decides to go to NOLA to get away from the crime here? WTF?? Bizarre
