POV: you're playing a character in a game of survival horror. You've finally managed to find meager light in this cold dark dungeon. You hear the shuffling and dragging of prodigious bulk. The GM drops this bad boy down on the table.

I, uh, "carved" a mini for the tabletop sessions.

Always loved this adventure, it inspired a drawing a few years back. Meet β€œThe Lamb”

Goblin Punch@goblinpunch.bsky.social

Another Interesting Thing: Lair of the Lamb has been compressed and amputated into a smaller one-shot by Directsun. Despite it's smaller size, it still retains all its sharp edges. πŸ‘ Lair of the Lamb: One-Shot Edition | Just the Games share.google/jTLd6NmG8q4O...

Satah and Jess were wonderful hosts, and I deeply adored the excuse to spend two hours going β€œwouldn’t it be cool if” over and over. this bit hit me like lightning rewatching the movie, and I’m delighted it stuck with them as well. What makes us not Things? Listen to us try and figure that out!

I did a deep dive into the AD&D DMG's Appendix A! What is the difference between a chamber & a room? What table do I roll on & when? Is the dungeon supposed to be stupid? Is it supposed to go on forever? Who built this thing, anyway? All this & more in the post below! #TTRPG #D&D #AD&D #OSR

I'm not on this episode because me and Brad and Yochai got in a big fight and I'm off the pod now. I don't want people to pick sides just listen to the episode Yochai explains everything

Today on Between Two Cairns, @bradkerr.net and I review The Eye of the Aeons by James Barker, talk about what we've been playing, and answer a mootsack question about the limitations of gold for xp. www.patreon.com/betweentwoca...

This is a HUGE contribution to tooling for running games at the table. DirectSun is burying the lede a little. He has made a web template that lets you have clickable maps, preview hyperlinks, and have multiple views of an adventure open at once. This is an incredible resource for GMs!

I've been working on this for some time and with the release of the first three Cairn CAS adventures in Markdown, I thought this was as good a time as any to make a few announcements.

Using these features is my preferred way to run games when I'm running on the internet. I'm not trying to replace PDFs, just offering a digital-focused alternative for when you're already staring at a computer screen.

Sites like the Cairn SRD and the Designing Dungeons Course are written in a simple styling format called Markdown and then converted to web pages using an automated process. The extra gaming plugins work with the same tools and can be dropped in to existing or new sites just as easily as any others.

I'll also mention that @maximlowe.com has not only graciously made Cairn conversion notes for A Familiar Tower, but also created an alternate Markdown version of A Familiar Tower specifically for Cairn. So you can run as-is, no context switching necessary!

What I'm most excited about are the extra features to make running the game easier. Hovering over links will preview them, clicking on dice notation will roll dice, maps have click-able regions that take you to their keys. Just a few features from a suite of plug-ins called Just The Games.

First, A Familiar Tower and Puzzle Dungeon: The Seers Sanctum are now available in Markdown and are playable in browser, complete with image support! The Markdown versions are free and licensed under CC BY NC 4.0. The artwork presented is property of the original artist and is used with permission.

There you'll also find a copy of the original OGL version of the Old School Essentials SRD available for quick reference at the same place where you run your games.

I wrote a post about keying, and how it's weird that we don't have a name for all the various styles! Note: this post is not about the best kind of keying (though my preference does exist). It's more about naming the thing so we can discuss the thing. newschoolrevolution.com/the-keys-to-...
