I knew my audio syncs (and the majority of audio syncers) of DTS Theatrical mixes has the fatal flaw, by using the latest apt-x100 version, instead of the only version that is correctly applied, version 0.3.4. If you continue with the latest apt-x100 version, you want to redo the syncs.

The fact that Coyote Vs. Acme both managed to be somewhat of a box office success after all it went through really is proof that execs do not know anything about what the audience wants from films. And I'm glad it was one because it deserved to be since it was just great.

Don't forget, Arrow and Criterion (since Eyes Wide Shut) with Fidelity in Motion 4K Ultra HD authored releases is another way to support the even Warner restoration teams. Never give up from the boutique labels of the best 4K scans they ever do. The underappreciated releases as premium values.

Seeing some posts and comments about cancelling Warner Archive orders to protest the Ellisons. From a larger perspective, physical media doesn’t hold much value compared to streaming. Supporting Warner Archive with or without Skydance will allow them to continue. And you own it forever.

Replying to @aidanstar64.bsky.social

You are really paying for the vendors and retailers that have these titles in stock. Any purchase of a Warner Archive title helps finance future titles and restoration work.

Yes, it's horrible. The monopoly. The owner. The destruction of studio legacy. But ... Does this mean Paramount films will be part of Movies Anywhere? If so, yay! Or ... Does this mean Warner Bros. will stop being part of Movies Anywhere? If so, boo! These are the important questions.

Instead of doom posting, here’s what I hope happens: A) Paramount-WB will be forced to split in the post-Trump administration B) Debt’s too much to handle that they’d have to sell one half or both C) Ellison’s get forced out so the company can have competent leadership

The video game industry has always been volatile (I published Press Reset in 2021!) but the skeleton key to understanding the current state of things is this: Big games now cost 10x to make what they did 15 years ago but most do not generate even close to 10x the revenue. Simple as that

PhysDigiCollect's Corner reposted

This is a double screw up for WB, because both losing Nolan and selling Coyote vs Acme ended up resulting in competition getting more money.

Sure, sex is great, but have you ever watched a media company suffer actual consequences for their shitty behavior?

The sixth image is the real deal for natural 35mm grain scan. It took until the 4K era when restorations deal with the dirts and scratches, but NEVER DNR the grain at all.

Rodan (reel 7) comparison: - Toho VideoDisc LD (1985) - Toho LaserDisc LD (1992) - DVD Toho DVD (2001) - TOHO Visual Entertainment BD (2009 - TOHO Visual Entertainment BD (2026) [original camera negative] - TOHO Visual Entertainment BD (2026) [color separations]

The intended view on an actual tape took 27 years after butchered home media releases from Artisan Entertainment to 2010 Blu-ray sourced from the telecined 35mm print instead of the DigiBeta (filmed in Hi8 and 16mm) masters. (Second Sight released the Hi8 cut first in 2024 UK BD release)

It's been a while since I saw a company shoot themselves in the foot badly and Sony doing that with their stupid physical media phase out for PlayStation and stubbornly refusing to move after the backlash is just bewildering. I hope the blowback is harder than before.

PhysDigiCollect's Corner reposted

Saying we should all go back to physical media I think misses the point. I actually *like* buying games and movies digitally for a bunch of reasons. What we need is better consumer protections so the things we do buy digitally are actually owned and companies cant delete/revoke access!

Remember: Sony has caved to negative feedback before when they FIRST wanted to close the PS3 and Vita stores and when they wanted Helldivers PC players to link to PSN. Keep your voices heard, and maybe they'll walk back their decisions regarding both physical discs AND the PS3 and Vita stores.

I feel like this is the bigger issue yeah. Sony should not be allowed to delist games and shut down digital stores let alone completely removing purchased content.

Dave Breens@baldbreens.bsky.social

I personally wouldn't announce killing off physical media in the same week that digital purchases have been delisted from accounts without refund but

PhysDigiCollect's Corner reposted

Sony killing physical games will have more ripple effect than we first envision. It will hurt retailers. It will damage any affiliate marketing. This will hurt media and creators depending on affiliate income like us. Which means less exposure for games. Which will hurt sales.

One thing should now be very clear: Ubisoft is not the biggest player pulling the strings of lobbies like ESA and VGE. Sony now has a prime interest from 2028 going forward that customers don't have the slightest say. SKG needs to succeed or we can kiss this hobby goodbye.

Announcing this as the same time they closing their PS3 & Vita store is really scummy. I still love physical media & seeing Sony & probably other companies go for this digital only BS SUCKS SO BAD FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO OWN THEIR GAMES. I'm probably just gonna stick to PC gaming & stay retro...

I keep seeing people thinking this is a bluesky problem. If you're seeing this it thinks you're in a state or country with age verification laws. This is what every social media site will do if KOSA and the KIDS Act succeeds. Running to another socmed won't fix it, we have to fight the source.

Well i dont know how long this login session is gonna last but @bsky.app just asked me to do an age verification with personal information. If this happens again i will not attempt to log back in. If i dont post here again let bsky know that i prefer my privacy over this platform.

Netflix SHOULD NOT buy any Studio still Releasing Movies in Theaters and on Physical Media. Even if Lionsgate isn't as Big as WB or other Major Film Studios of Hollywood, I know Lionsgate is just a Mini Major Studio, but This is a Horrible Idea no matter what Hollywood Studio Netflix buys!

For the record, the "hazardous" part only applies to those who worked at the aforementioned plant, not the actual (poor quality) discs themselves, so for those who solely has those discs in their possession, you're safe.

So apparently, the same plant that those rotted 2006-09 WB/HBO/New Line/Fox/Lionsgate/Magnolia DVDs were manufactured from was also a hazardous place to work at too
