Imagine a world where we are no longer dependent on oil and nuclear energy. It's coming and it's better and that's why the vested interests are doing everything in their power to stop it

Jan Rosenow@janrosenow.bsky.social

Solar has overtaken nuclear. A decade ago it supplied 1% of the world's power. In 2025 it met three quarters of global demand growth. Almost nobody saw it coming. I spoke to Jocelyn Timperley at BBC Future about why. www.bbc.co.uk/future/artic...

Oh ffs. MPs must stop romanticising this absolute horseshit. Brexiters promised a land of milk and honey and delivered contaminated water and broken biscuits. We don’t want it. And we mustn’t be tied to failure and lies just because politicians want to cover up the utter mess they’ve made.

The Norwegian’s are a class act.

Tories are a joke. I am fed up with being told that only Tories can run the UK when their choices gave us: No sovereign fund like Norway Failure of water/rail privatisation Brexit disaster Near financial collapse from LT budget Deeply divided nation Record inequality Near collapse of gov departments

Why do we have to keep listening to these tory hypocrites?! 14 years of destroying this country and acting as though it was nothing to do with them. Sick of all of them.

The Trussell Trust’s latest report makes for grim reading: • 9 million people are projected to experience severe hardship in 2026/27 • 3 million of them are children • That’s around 1 in 7 people in the UK What should Labour do in the Budget to make sure people can afford the essentials?

The #BBC News is a weak vehicle leading with a Megan Markle story. @channel4news.bsky.social leads with Israel and its inhuman hounding of Palestinians from land lived and worked for generations. Our BBC licence fee is not being spent on good investigative journalism.

Fiona’s disappointment was palpable as the British Steel worker said he was very happy with what the Gov was doing, as his mortgage was still getting paid. #bbcqt

When companies are owned by private companies as Tom Tugenhat prefers, rather than state owned, we find the bosses get a big bonus, the shareholders receive a dividend and infrastructure doesn’t get upgraded. British Steel, like water should be state owned. #bbcqt

I hope Geoff Norcott was complaining about the corridor care, the 7m on the waiting list and the lack of doctors appointments when the Tories were in charge for 14 years. #bbcqt

Some are finally waking up to the realisation of their 1980’s Tory vote for Thatcher. She sold off our oil to give tax cuts to the rich. The Norwegian didn’t and their Sovereign Wealth Fund gives them all a security we don’t have. #bbcqt

There’s too much caution about calling Farage and Reform racist. They have no such timidity when they threaten to strip us of our rights and protections, to mass deport people and kill them at sea. They routinely insult, perv, vilify and hate people. You don’t ‘nice’ that away. You call it out.

No surprise to see the fossil-fuel-funded Tories and Refukkers blame net zero for grid issues - assisted by the uncurious minds at the Express. Grid inadequacies are down to failings by the Tory-privatised National Grid to plan / invest. Labour separated out NESO in 2024 to begin to address this.
