There is no reason not to take the Canada and Greenland stuff seriously. It is having real effects and Trump's whole political career has been boundary pushing and mainstreaming the previously unthinkable.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

Americans (myself included) tend to laugh off the Trump noises about annexing Canada as obvious nonsense, but the rest of the world is taking the threat seriously. Our media should reflect that reality and hold him accountable for the serious damage he’s causing.

Trump’s confrontation with Zelensky wasn’t just a diplomatic misstep; it was a stark display of how the Trump administration treats its allies as bargaining chips, write Mohammad Eslami and Ibrahim Al-Marashi in their op-ed.

No one follows more etiquette rules than the Royal Familyβ€”but notice how King Charles didn’t make any smart-ass or demeaning comments about Zelensky’s attire today. Why? Because respect isn’t about clothesβ€”it’s about character. And that’s something money can’t buy.

Make no mistake: Ukraine is leading the fight for democracy. A just and lasting peace requires Ukraine to be at the negotiating table, and its victory will make all of us safer. Ukraine must win. Putin must lose. Slava Ukraini.

If you’re ashamed by what happened to Zelenskyy today go get an Ukraine flag & put it up. Put it on your car. Then let your congressman know your feelings. You really can stand up for freedom. It’s not hard. Don’t be afraid to terminate friendships with people in that cult. It’s not politics.

America has endured as a democracy, despite dark moments of fear and moral uncertainty, in part because we take inspiration from leaders around the world who show us what it means to fight and sacrifice for freedom. Churchill, Gandhi, Mandela, Walesa, Navalny, and now Zelensky.

I will never forget the photo of Zelenskyy’s face after he saw Russia’s war crimes in Bucha in 2022. He seemed to age years in an afternoon. Watching him constantly cross the world asking for aid that should have been thrown at him is one of the deepest shames of our age.

Zelenskyy went into that nest of vipers and roasted them all. Good. They all exposed themselves, they demeaned themselves in a way that was undeniable. Perfect.

A Financial Times investigative documentary has found evidence that Russian executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war are not isolated incidents but are likely to be part of a broader pattern that points to a systematic policy. Watch the full documentary here: on.ft.com/3Qs7oDW

Trump-Ukraine A note on favourability ratings. Contrary to what Donald Trump said at his press conference yesterday, Zelensky’s approval rating isn’t 4%. It’s 57%. And net (subtracting disapproval) it’s +20%. Trump’s net approval rating is -1.5% … … 21.5 percentage points lower than Zelensky.

Trump suggested Ukraine must hold elections and falsely stated that Zelensky’s approval ratings sit at just 4 percent. A survey published on Wednesday said some 57 percent of Ukrainians trust Zelensky, an increase of 5 points from a survey in December. www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/0...
