Definitely over the primary illness, but the cough lingers and I think I have strained every muscle in my ribcage. Ow. (And this is *with* having gotten my flu shot a couple weeks ago!)

Monkey and I have probably-the-flu, and here's my biggest complaint (other than feeling really lousy): Being sick is *so* *boring*. Can't focus on anything, no energy, can't nap it off (due to coughing)... Yuck. It's the worst.

Normally I like the way my neurodivergence works and don't experience it as a disability, but earlier today there was Too Much All At Once and my brain did a meltdown/shutdown thing. Not the first time it's happened, but the first time I've known what it was as it was happening. Whee.

Snow is good but broken trees make me sad. :-( Lovely crabapple tree in front of out house lost a big branch. On top of the huge amount that got taken off when they pruned it last fall, it's like 1/3 as much tree as it was a year ago.

Mysteries of the hotel: Why are hotel towels so much better at drying you off than anything you can buy for the home? Who decided that the primary selling point for consumer towels should be "soft and fluffy" and not "good at drying"? And what can be done to make them answer for their crimes?

Mysteries of the hotel: Why is there marketing on the shampoo? There are no other options to choose from. I can't go out and buy it; it's exclusive to the chain. And if I brought my own, I'm not going to switch b/c the bottle says "nourishing" and "provitamin". Who is this ad copy *for*?

Serving size for normal eggs: 2 Serving size for deviled eggs: like a dozen I'm making deviled eggs for thanksgiving and they're gonna be fancy. Hit me with your best recipes. I have a couple good ones, but I want more.

Cirque's show Echo is beautiful and amazing and you should definitely go see it if you can. Also, then you'll be able to understand when I ask, "which did you like better, Juggling Sky Wolf or the Triple Red Ant Pole Dancers?"

A whoooole lot of people honked or waved in support; near-continuous car horns at some points. (I like the big truck honks the best.) Fewer than 20 expressed opposition (thumbs down, middle fingers, obscenities), so only about 0.1% So that feels pretty good.

At one point I counted, and I estimate we had about 100 cars a minute going by in all directions. We were there for more than an hour and a half, so that's 10,000 cars. Times more than one person in many cars is 10-15,000 people who saw the protest.

Not unrelatedly, the more I learn, the less convinced I am that the categories we use to talk about neurodivergence are good representations of reality. I'm not sure whether ADHD and ASD are different expressions of the same thing, or whether both are a dozen different things in a trenchcoat...

I fixed the sewing machine! The bobbin casing was out of place. Also, I learned how to operate the sewing machine! Now I need to do a bunch of ironing. :-/ (I am converting a bunch of long-sleeved shirts to short-sleeves, because I hate it when they cling to my forearms.)

I honestly believe all LLM results should come with a disclaimer reminding people that the thing doesn’t (and absolutely cannot) know any facts or do any reasoning; it is simply designed to *sound* like it knows facts and frequently sweeps some up accidentally in the process.

I really think many if not most of the LLM fail cases are people trying to use it as a search engine. It is the opposite of a search engine.

Python is a very stateful language, and I do not like it. (This post brought to you by the copy.deepcopy() function, which you need to get an actual *copy* of something and not just an alias pointing to the original.)

Lemon: I wasn't really planning to take the day off today, but my brain decided otherwise. Peaches: * Did some satisfying hobby data viz instead. * No holiday travel! * Looking forward to Thanksgiving with good friends tomorrow.

No, you needn't be a fighter. Fascists hate art and philosophy which expose their lies, so draw and write if that's your strength. Be more punk, more queer, and more rebellious on the daily with whomever you meet. Just don't remain silent, don't remain passive. Push back.

Zero fare transit improves the experience of all riders by making boarding frictionless, it also improves the safety of drivers and transit personnel by removing fare conflicts. Transferring spending from fare enforcement to funding zero fare is straightforward.
