I got access to the Rex multiplexer today. Feels smooth to use, is a GUI application not a CLI/TUI (though it includes a CLI). The Lua configuration is nice and I appreciate the hydra-style keymapping as well as ability to create custom modes. Public docs here: www.superlogical.com/rex/docs/
