Burnout 3 is underrated as one of the very, very best games of all time because you can show Burnout 3 footage to people two decades later and their reaction will still be "hell yeah, this rules. I wanna play this right now."

On the back of this RTAinJapan news, I'm now crossing my fingers even harder for Boktai 2 to get into AGDQ, as it will more or less complete the world tour. I've done it in the UK. I've done it on mainland Europe. I've done it in Australia. I'm about to do it in Japan. I've yet to do it in the US.

Glad to see several friends and members of communities I'm in on here. Partners in Time and Ys VI by Tonk and Na2na/Nori respectively for stuff I'm a part of, and of course my pals @zelllooo.bsky.social and @drakodan.bsky.social for Doom 64 and Boktai as well!

『RTA in Japan Winter 2026』の採用ゲームを発表します! docs.google.com/spreadsheets... オレンジ色が「採用」、緑色が「バックアップ」となります。 ゲームスケジュールの発表は10/25(日)を予定しています。 #RTAinJapan

Holy shit I got Boktai 2 into RTAinJapan Winter 2026. I uh, will be processing this news for a fair bit and then proceed to be more hyped for any travel destination I've ever been.

I think I'll just point to this in future if my stance on GenAI usage is questioned. This is regarding the latest "random dumbfuck posts Claude recomp in a community space" I had to endure live, and how I was not charitable in my direct responses to them.

I think at some point I'm gonna end up mentally checking out of caring about, pretty much everything due to GenAI shit crowbar-ing its way into every corner of internet life. New sites all AI. New projects all AI. New games all AI. To say it's fatiguing is a generational understatement.

I've always been happy to just fall back on re-consuming the same comfort media for the thousandth time which serves me pretty well as a speedrunner, but it's genuinely starting to feel like the only escape from all this bullshit.

I've seen the argument AI doesn't necessarily make things easier, but rather allows to shift your thinking to a higher abstraction level, like you're managing junior devs. Instead of writing low level code, you're writing architecture, etc. As someone who does that IRL I'm somewhat open to it, but…

Picked out some stills from the video of yesterday's speedrun panel at Sheffield Anime & Gaming Con. Give us a shout if I mentioned your favourite marathon! 😍 Definitely up for doing this again; the folks at the convention have invited me to future events. Really pleased it was so well received. 🥰

I actively do this too, and I've said this before but I would forgive much of the algorithmic bullshit nature of what gets served up to you on YouTube if they altered it so that it just gives a video zero traction if it detects AI-generated content.

same with the AI flag in the video itself, ESPECIALLY for music

"Mog" is such a fucking good word. I'm normally a grumpy old man when it comes to zoomer/gen alpha speak, but mog is such a top-tier verb.

I've commented on this sort of thing before, and my #1 reason for lack of engagement on Twitch in recent years is Raids becoming a site feature. That IS an oversimplification, and the site feature has existed since 2017, but it's something I cannot shake the feeling of nonetheless. Continued below:

Shroud recently talked about how quiet chats are in 2026. I was curious, so I ran my channel numbers and compared every September from 2018 to 2026. From September 2026 to September 2018... ⏱️ Chats per Minute Watched: Down 86%. 👀 Chats per Viewer: Down 87%. ⌛ Chats per Hour Streamed: Down 52%.

These days, the streamer you're watching is done, and the page changes to a different stream. You haven't decided yourself to engage, and very often I don't. This is doubly true for chronic lurkers/people with multiple streams open such as myself. You tab back over and, oh, it's something else.

This also goes hand-in-hand with gift subbing, a feature that definitely has its uses, but I'll often get an email notif about getting a gift sub to a streamer I have no knowledge of. Clearly these occur post-raid, after I've fallen asleep or something. Not a mystery why engagement is down.

Before raiding was a site feature, it was something you actively opted into. The streamer you're watching is done, they choose a stream to go to, they posted the link in chat with a raid message to spam, and you clicked the link/posted the message/hung out yourself. The engagement was YOUR choice.

I said last chance to submit previously, but now I really mean it. Less than 24 hours to submit for the next Albion Speedruns event, at Brighton!

SRC changed their terms of use yesterday, and released a news post with an FAQ. They make it sound like not a big deal. It's a big deal. The Creative Commons licence is gone. They claim ownership over the data now. Thread about what this means, and what we can do about it 🧵

I did watch the entire response video from Shayy and I'd just like to point out that unless I spaced out and missed it somewhere, a consideration that's ENTIRELY absent is the power dynamic at play, ie. regardless of "legality" you should not be fucking doing this with fans who idolise you.

I can only assume the fact they didn't address this point means it hasn't occurred to them and they don't understand just how big of a deal it is, but it should be common fucking sense to not get personally, let alone SEXUALLY ingratiated with those who are starstruck by you and want to please you.

Last calls if you're a UK-based speedrunner and would like to get in on our Brighton event in November! Submissions close next Sunday, so don't delay in getting a submission in.

Albion Speedrun Collective@albionspeedrun.co.uk

There's a little over a week left for submissions to Albion Speedrun Marathon Brighton, live at Brighton Racecourse Nov 21-22. To celebrate we're hosting a rerun of ASM Manchester over on Twitch and on YouTube right now! You can find links to both on our submissions page: oengus.io/marathon/asm...

Is programming just becoming a lost art at this point? It feels like most people stopped fully thinking on their own. Im just disappointed. "Uhh but I validate my output and adjust it afterwards." Yeah and I use salt and pepper in my instant soups. They are still instant soup, even with the spice.

Don't actually know what I'm gonna do with myself onstream for the semi-foreseeable future. I'm honestly finding Metal Gear Solid 2 *deeply* un-fun to run at a higher level and it's definitely not fun for people to watch either. Can only apologise for how salty I've been the last couple of sessions.

WoW Forever Beta starts tomorrow so there's that, but as far as speedrun projects go, I really don't know what I want to pivot to. There are completely untouched projects in my backlog to get around to, and old stuff to return to. But nothing at the front of my mind that I'm burning to tackle next.
