In an article published in 2019, 73% of the male sample (569 males) said that solving one’s own problems was a barrier to mental health treatment. This goes back to capability and competency. We need to do better at breaking these barriers. The suicide rate in men is 5 times higher than in women.

“The strongest, most resilient people I know are able to sit in a room, discuss their pain, feel the breadth of it and all its horror, and let it wash over them unfettered. That’s power. That’s true dominance. Men need to practice that.” #masculinity open.substack.com/pub/drmoffit...

The ascension of our position to this dominant role stripes away our partner’s own resilience and agency by tricking us into believing that our emotions will burden them or that they wouldn’t be able to handle them” new article on Substack

New article on Substack exploring the reasons why men struggle to open up to their partners more than they do other men. open.substack.com/pub/drmoffit...

@profgalloway.com and Richard the bombdiggagity Reeves talk about this a lot but it bears repeating: if we on the left cannot somehow get young men on our side this next election we are doomed to repeat what we see now. They overwhelmingly voted for trump in 16’ and 24’ (60-70%).

Man for the last decade and a half I’ve been writing after [insert something] — after my dissertation, after I study for my licensing exam, after the kids go down. Every night 9-12,1, or 2am. One day I hope I can just wake up and don’t have to write “after” something.

“And that’s where the rub comes, because men have been conditioned to be silent when words would provide healing. Whether you believe me or not, this response is a cancer born of patriarchy.” Come check out the substack on men’s mental health, #psychology and #masculinity #psychotherapy

It is astounding to me the lack of accountability by literary agents. Ghosting. Asking for fulls then never replying. Asking for detailed reasons of why they are the right agent then not bothering to send a reply. I know doctors working 80hr weeks with more consideration and promptness.

There is an assumption by them that they are the busiest overworked people and then use that to justify their inability to take a minute and reply. Man there are so many problems with the relationship between writers and agents

You are up to date.
