Photos from a Mongolian instrument making retreat by Baatarsuren Chadraabal & Rowan Hartsuiker I went to this week. It was a wonderful time. And I got an ikel khuur, tsuur & tovshuur out of it. (Additional images to follow)

Out with the Royal Enfield this morning and out for a walk this afternoon, maybe next weekend, find a new place to walk & ride out there. The Royal Enfield is such a joy, I'll happily make up excuses to just go out. #motosky

A recent initiative highlights the potential of digital platforms in supporting Indigenous language revitalisation. Métis Life, a new Roblox-based game developed by Maskwa Games, integrates lessons in Northern Michif into an interactive & engaging gaming experience. 🔗 tinyurl.com/3jkttvps TLDR 👇

The upside to Duolingo replacing contractors with AI is that people who have long been attached to their Duolingo streak are now trying out alternatives & will likely find something better that helps their language learning journey more. #langsky

Been having a conversation with Claude AI in Mongolian & it seems it has improved since I last tried, it might be useful for practice, I am not going to trust its Mongolian is 100% correct, but at least it understands me & responds conversationally. #langsky

After long declaring I dislike Anki, finding add ons and making customizations I think has made it grow on me. And I can still get my mnemonics in. I have a monkey brain, though still playing around with it. #langsky

Today in developer problems: Trying to write meeting minutes in Microsoft Word and instinctively using Markdown...correcting yourself and then using Markdown again. Maybe I should see if there is a plugin rather than correct my habit...

#langsky Got into a good habit with getting some Mongolian done daily. Maybe now I can slip in some Tuvan vocabulary to get me into a good habit with that. Also, trying Brainscape for Flash Cards. "Kill Ear" is the mnemonic here.

Focusing on one language at a time when there are other languages you're keen to learn, the struggle is real. Watching Uncle Roger in Malaysia has reminded me Indonesian is on my list and working on a project for a Welsh client frequently reminds me Welsh is on my list. #langsky

My 65 words for the day. #langsky This one was harder, but I think I got good use out of the dative case. There's probably mistakes, but I learned things at the same time so I could write certain bits. Translation is in the alt text.

I'm hoping I used that right word for 'hydrate', I couldn't find a meaning that wasn't to do with chemistry and Google Translate uses the same word as 'moisturise'. I think it is wrong. So anybody who understands Mongolian might find it funny. "You got ill because you didn't moisturise???"
