SHADOW OF MADNESS out now!

Welcome to the lifeboat party! I'm D. V. Bishop, author of the Cesare Aldo historical thrillers set in Renaissance Italy. Love books, reading, and helping other writers. In my Copious Spare Time™ I write comics, lead three creative writing programmes, and am trying to finish a PhD. My fave film?

'Entertaining' So brilliant to see #TheBellsOfFortune by Leonora Nattrass chosen as a top historical novel to read next month from @thetimess.bsky.social 📚 We publish on 5th Nov!

This new electoral vídeo from Pedro Sánchez is quite something. Standing in front of Guernica defending the anti-war stance of his government, limiting military expenditure, denouncing the atrocity of Gaza. English subtitles.

Just seen a draft cover for my June 2027 historical romp, THE TRUE CONFESSION OF CONTESSA COLTELLO - so excited! Alas, can't share it yet but great start to the weekend.

From over on threads, this struck me as an extraordinarily good point.

Proud that my third Cesare Aldo historical thriller RITUAL OF FIRE has just hit 800 reviews and ratings. It won the Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Novel but otherwise went under the radar - no supermarket slot, fewer GR reviews than an Aldo novel out 2 years later. Still one of my faves in the series!

First single you bought with your own money. No lying! 'Rock Me' by ABBA. Unusually, this is an ABBA single with one of the boys singing lead. It was released as an A-side in Australia and New Zealand, peaking at #2 in NZ where I purchased it.
