People say you can’t love others if you don’t love yourself, but that’s not true Everyone has times when they can’t love themselves. Even then, you can still love someone else deeply If you can’t love yourself right now, please don’t worry One day, you’ll be able to love both yourself and others🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Let's talk about naming your video game! This is something I come back to with teams over and over again. Naming is really hard. A decent name is hard to find, and a bad one will really make it hard for people to remember your game. Here are some tips.

Literally reads like they're wonderstruck at the supersoldier serum creating Captain America out of Steve Rogers.

I've been thinking a lot about talent lately. People often say "oh, this person is so talented" as a positive thing about people who are good at what they do. I'm not sure if it is really nice to say though, as getting good at something one has no talent for is a lot harder, and to me impressive.

Jumping back into this line of thought, I believe this cultural focus on talent is a big part why AI is used so much to shortcut the creative process, with poor results. People think that if they are not talented at creating art, they cannot do it, so they skip the process instead of getting better

Also, I don't think "untalented" should be thrown around as an insult, even if it is an easy way to make fun of people who put out bad AI generated "art". It's not someone's fault they have no talent, and they can't change it either. Lazy, while not being a great insult either, is much more fitting

So to me "they have no talent for this but they still ended up amazing at it" is possibly the nicest mean sounding thing to say about someone who is skilled at something.

anyways, I will end up learning to play some chords on the guitar eventually, even if my fingers are convinced it's not physically possible to move in that way

I am talented in many things. Almost everything I do I have some amount of natural talent for. This is partly because I tend to drop things I can't get good at quickly, and move back to things that come easily to me. A big thing I've been trying to do more of is to make myself do things that don't.

i have a disproportionately high number of trans friends and acquaintances (5) that I knew before they came out and literally 100% of them are lighter, happier versions of themselves post-transition/coming out/whatever. (some of yall are still grumpy af but less than before thank GOD jk jk jk)

being transgender is amazing and beautiful, transitioning is one of the greatest choices you can ever make and i hope more people realize that its not dangerous or evil, but liberating

It might be because of my previous washing machine being an absolute piece of crap, but my new one, which has wifi and "AI"*, is a delight *No, there's no LLM in there, it just has a big dataset of how different fabrics move that it uses to intelligently change some settings to make stuff wash well

It also takes less than a third as long as the old one while using substantially less water and electricity, and somehow still getting stuff cleaner and dryer. Those changes are about as life changing as it gets for a washing machine, but they admittedly don't really need any of the smart features.

Why am I writing this? Because it often feels like tech only gets worse these days, and I am happy to have found an instance where it actually got noticeably better. Not saying anyone should throw out their functioning washer, but mine breaking was a blessing in disguise in a way.

I dunno, being able to download different programmes for the kinds of stuff I wash, getting notifications for finished runs, and changing which things are set by default is pretty neat. Not life changing but neat. And so is personalizing it with different tunes and startup animations.

The first warning arrived on a Tuesday morning, six weeks after consultants advised moving from dependency on six hundred small excel scripts - and nobody at Zenith Ledger Advisory paid much attention. It appeared in the system dashboard between routine audit notifications and a maintenance reminder

We have a team dog called Karamelka. She's cute. She also holds the record of 3 unsanctioned pees in our rooms in one day. Sometimes we disagree. Sometimes conversations get hard. But we always land on a decision and move forward together. This is who's building your app.

I got to watch the mandalorian and grogu in a cinema tonight. Fun movie, well executed, not as good as a full season that ties in with what was set up more could've been, but a great time nonetheless. Screen-X, where they project some scenes in peripheral vision on the walls was quite fun.

The worst part of it was the scary movie ad I had to sit through before the film I'm not even offended by that nonsense, I'm just tired of it During the entire trailer there wasn't a single laugh in the crowded cinema. Try-hard offensive is not the same as dark humor and I wish they understood that

You're trapped in the last TV show you watched. Where are you? Oh damn, I'm stuck in @lastweektonight.com, which honestly.. sure feels like it sometimes. Though I could use more "so what do we do?" energy in real life.

I see that the new MacOS Tahoe 26.5 update releases *EIGHT* new emojis from Apple's strategic emoji reserve. Folks, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this is a software update that you really want to take somewhat urgently

Before going to a party tonight: "Let's just go there for a bit, say hi to people and leave pretty soon after" After coming home well past midnight: "Good thing I don't have to work tomorrow" 😅

Feels like I'm becoming part of a community here finally. It's been so long since I moved to Berlin, but it seems like I have finally found "my" people. I'll likely even be joining a table top rpg group, which is something I've wanted since I was a teen.
