Listed a keyboard on FB marketplace, it got flagged as 'counterfeit' for some reason, and these are the only options I have for a review of the listing.

Is it too much of a stretch to think there being a character named ‘buddy’ in coyote vs acme could be an animal man reference? Or am I going full pepe silvia

The bit in a historical drama where someone is telling the main character that history will forget them, but here I am, watching a show about them? One of the best bits you can do!

“Just like… craftsmen that were replaced by assembly line workers… we feel a profound sense of loss. We grieve that a skill, that we spent half a lifetime honing, is not being valued…anymore… We’re saddened that [this] results in lower quality work, and that a lot of people just don’t seem to care.”

What AI is doing to the jobs of programmers feels very familiar to a lot of us frontend developers – because it has happened to us before.

Sometimes art is so breathtaking and poignant it defies all expectation

I had to replace my iPhone mini 13 with an iPhone 17 today and I hate it and it reminded me of the art that said something like “I showed my iPhone 5 to my dog and he said phones never needed to be bigger than this. You have turned our home in the stars into a grave.” Pic from my new iPhone 17

Not to be the guy who’s only seen boss baby but I’m literally reading House of Leaves at the same time as This Year and today’s song and especially annotation in This Year had me thinking I was reading House of Leaves again for a sec.

Every time I see someone talk about Claude I think about how they switched from female to male names as soon as they wanted the robots to seem like experts vs personal assistants.

I got my current bose earbuds used, and the device name was 'abalone' and I think that's really cute. makes me feel like the previous owner cared about these lil' guys.

it's fun watching nirvanna the band the show with my friend because I can explain canadian cultural references like 'a toonie is a coin' while the characters hold up a coin and she's like 'yeah'

team ‘keep one in your bag’ and tbh even if you don’t care about other people, at least *you* get to feel better if there is someone coughing behind you on the bus

A classic anti-masker tactic is to claim that if you don't wear a mask 100% of the time, it isn't worth it. Untrue. Every single time you wear a mask, you reduce the chances for viruses to spread. Wearing a mask always improves public health, even if you only do it occasionally.

stranger: what do you do for work? me, shamefully: computer

Also I of course read a billion comics this year as usual but that’s hard to summarise and track. Shout out to fool night for being particularly good ongoing, a guest in the house for being particularly good standalone, the dc comics app for making me frustrated and insane

I completed a pretty small number of videogames this year, a couple I played a lot but are still in progress (hades II and death stranding II) so I can't comment yet. Probably my most played game this year was synth riders. But these are the manageably-sized mostly narrative games I finished

i think better man, sinners and 28 years later are the stand out new release films I saw in cinemas this year. nosferatu had some amazing parts but it's already sort of faded from memory a bit. I have already watched wake up dead man twice

I think the fundamental gap here is that non-creative people think that creative people make things for the end product, when in fact it’s the act of creation and not the end point that makes it worthwhile.
