Very proud of this study! Two fundamental processes in gene expression turn out less tightly connected than thought. And their relationship may help explain some surprising vulnerabilities of cancer cells. A big thank you to Agata and Deepshika for years of hard work, and kudos to all collaborators!

Agata Stepien@agatakstepien.bsky.social

Two steps in gene expression that should move together… don’t. In our new paper we show that pre-mRNA cleavage and RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) termination shift in opposite directions – with a surprising link to gene expression and cancer cell vulnerability. Read more here: tinyurl.com/3pkeuctp

Yaay! Well done @bluebuleta.bsky.social and team! Great to see this work finally out! Read the paper to see how SETDB1 and HUSH regulate Xist transcription

🧵 Happy to share that the final version of our study is finally out in @natcomms.nature.com today: www.nature.com/articles/s41... What started as an unexpected observation—that SETDB1 depletion accelerates X chromosome silencing—led us to uncover a role for SETDB1 in regulating Xist transcription.

Unacceptable! Have people started asking for refunds? We don't use Thermo antibodies much but have a couple in the freezer (one I have to admit is good!)

Reese Richardson@reeserichardson.bsky.social

Thermo Fisher now has a page up in response to our observations. They flatly deny that images were manipulated or fabricated while repeating that images were "optimized for presentation and clarity on the website", no lie, six times. www.thermofisher.com/us/en/home/l...

Help please! We need to do some large(ish) cell culture inhibiting E-cadherin with a monoclonal antibody. Does anyone have the DECMA-1 hybridoma cell line so we could purify our own antibody? or a similar monoclonal that would do the job. Any help greatly appreciated, just DM me. Please repost!
