now that I've seen it, I can join the chorus saying that this piece sucks so bad
“'You Can See Everything' is a hilarious, thrilling, fascinating, beautiful piece of art. What it certainly is not is a documentary, and it’s dangerous to pretend that it is,” writes Theranos whistleblower Tyler Shultz. https://bit.ly/4Bk2nDJ

there are so many different mathematical terms that literally mean "collection of things considered as a whole" - set - class - category - union - group - ring (as in 'smuggling ring') - field
Some are quite good. Matrix? Awesome. Ring? Intriguing. Space? Well what else are you going to call it? Never liked “Field” though. It evokes nothing.

names this good shouldn't be wasted on scumbag political operatives. Timmy Teepell is the name of a retired relief pitcher who threw 43 innings of 4.50 ERA ball for the '94-95 Royals and Tommy Teepell should be his 5-tool prospect son everyone else in the Orioles dugout has nicknamed "T-Dawg"
Huge follow-up reporting to my scoop: The Guardian confirmed America Next—the conservative nonprofit founded by Bobby Jindal that was offering students $ to disrupt El-Sayed events—paid a firm registered to Tommy Teepell’s dad Timmy $250k for “canvassing and influencer marketing” against El-Sayed.
that guy was the best $250K could buy? dang the economy does suck

from looking into this further, I'm pretty sure all explanations of the Pythagorean prohibition on bean-eating come from later scholars trying their best to make sense of it, rather than any known Pythagorean doctrine that is, even in antiquity they were all going "huh????? why though??"
i get this story. standard violent cult behavior. i've seen movies i don't get why they had such a thing about beans

Deciding between two posts: "An American is someone who defects in a stag hunt." "An American is someone who can't tell apart a stag hunt and a prisoner's dilemma."
average american's understanding of game theory is "always defect, defection is always more rational. doesnt even matter what the problem setup is"
