Former Information Officer at State. Started in ‘74 as a mail boy. My father got me my job. Current assignment classified, but it’s a considerable step up in base pay.

Consumer banking, transforming HIV into a chronic instead of sometimes fatal condition, and laundry products.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Of course they do. Congressional hearings are investigatory, not adjudicatory. Nobody who is suspected of criminal wrongdoing (see, eg, Paul repeatedly saying he believes Fauci is a criminal) has any obligation to cooperate with an investigation by providing a sworn statement.

Josh Chafetz@joshchafetz.bsky.social

Witnesses don't get to decide for themselves whether an investigation is proper or not. If we don't want folks like Rand Paul to hold gavels, then we need to elect better senators.

I truly wonder whether Brexit or the US electing Trump will be remembered as the greatest national/social/political self-inflicted catastrophe of the last 80 years. Right now my vote is for Brexit. The US will survive Trump weakened but intact. Mr. Epner is correct the UK may be torn asunder.

Is it a crime to leak fake intelligence?

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

This is an Admin that hunts down leakers of classified information and launches investigations including subpoenas to media companies who print the info to discover their sources. But they seem completely disinterested in leakers to Axios.

That one time in 1983 two guys cornered the market on frozen concentrated orange juice, they had inside information from a stolen FDA crop report.

in honor of The Onion officially taking over InfoWars, what’s a conspiracy theory you 100% believe? Michael Jordan was doing the exact same shit as Pete Rose (gambling on games his team played in) during his playing career and Nike+the NBA have…done what it took to keep that quiet.

This seems incorrect. Amazon vehicles use fuel. Fuel is taxed at the federal and state, and sometimes local, levels. Fuel taxes fund roads. Amazon owns real property. It pays property taxes. Property taxes fund government services.

Pam Keith@pamkeithdc.bsky.social

I don’t think we talk nearly enough about the fact that corporations like Amazon, don’t pay a single cent to maintain the roads they use, the transportation system they use, the courts they use, they pay nothing for the infrastructure that is absolutely critical to their business. WE Pay for

Quality joke. (And that’s a permissible lay opinion)

Edgelord trolling aside, this is the equivalent of promising to make Florida basements great again.

INBOX: James Fishback, a Republican candidate for Florida Governor who is accused by his competitor Rep. Byron Donald of statutory rape, released a campaign video today pledging "to make the trains run on time," a direct reference to the Fascist dictator of Italy Benito Mussolini

Are you a Republican senator looking for a golden parachute out of government? Are you on good terms with Ron DeSantis? Are you a white man? Congrats. You’re probably the next HBC of the Florida Gators.

I think a thing we'll learn tonight is that people fucking hate what is going on and they will straight ticket vote against anyone involved in starving people while pillaging the country and kidnapping their neighbors. I don't think it matters at all who that person is.

I’m fairly certain people from NYC already know not to go into the Hudson River.

Andrew Couts@couts.bsky.social

NYC folks, if you’re traveling up to the Hudson Valley, DO NOT go in the Hudson River or let your dogs swim in the river right now. There is a historically huge blue algae bloom that is extremely deadly. More here: www.caryinstitute.org/news-insight...

The most on-brand name in the history of college football? Colt McCoy at Texas. Hard to think anyone will ever top that.

Steven Godfrey@stevengodfrey.bsky.social

Whit Weeks is just too Georgia of a name for a LSU player. I don’t like it. There should be transfer rules against players when your entire brand is too in-state

“Please don’t kill people with a flood” is a problematic ask for the god of the Old Testament.

Hal 10000@hal10000.bsky.social

There's a Russian proverb of which I am fond: pray to God but row to shore. Prayer is not the answer to floods. Proper weather services and early warning systems are. (And doing something about global warming, probably.)

Joe vs. The Volcano not being nominated for Best Picture was the second worst omission in Oscars history. (Tom Arnold not being nominated for - and winning - Best Supporting Actor for True Lies is quite obviously the worst).

The left better start figuring out how to weaponize today's decision rather than just (rightfully) criticizing it. - Go back into Judge Kaczmaryk's court to dissolve all of his nationwide orders. - Pass gun bans and insist any order applies only to plaintiffs.
