a dark part of myself finds this stuff really fascinating because it's literally one of the few practical applications of my degree lol

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

this is the type of psych task i would really enjoy programming, i love all the titrations going on here, it's a simple design but it gets at so much behavioural data. fuck, i wish i was evil.

Turns out the friction of having to learn photoshop was a crucial firewall protecting society from the terrible taste of small business owners

When I first heard about AI being used for menus and advertisements, my concern was largely that it would be used to idealize the food and make it look better than it actually was. At no point did I imagine that restaurants would willingly put out horrific looking images of their food on purpose

i really can’t bring myself to care about AI anthropomorphism debates. “is AI thinking?” i don’t know. is a calculator calculating? questions for the philosophers. what’s important is that we put sam altman in prison.

ah yes, the wonderful shared feeling of extreme islamaphobia

Senator Elissa Slotkin@slotkin.senate.gov

But that feeling of a shared bond among all Americans in the early weeks after the attack is something I’m so glad I got to experience. Because it’s the thing that I think we’re missing the most today.

part of the reason the US is so weird about Canada is that the right sees our (admittedly surface level) niceness as being weak, cringe, and effeminate

JD Vance: "Canada is a state -- sorry. Freudian slip."

ok? sometimes the outcome of that public criticism and peer review is that your racist ass gets fired!

Academia is a unique space where people can pursue controversial questions wherever they lead. If the work is pseudoscience (and, in my view, Cofnas' race science clearly is), academia has effective channels for response: public criticism and peer-review.

in my day we had to use cliff notes which comes with the bonus of not exploding your brain

incredible stuff here: The Atlantic tracked down Arday’s book proposal, which had stories wildly inconsistent with the final book. his proposal mentions surviving testicular cancer, but in the book he changes it to brain tumors. his proposal describes a 3 month coma that his book never mentions.

this really isn't following the spirit of hot minion summer

‘MINIONS & MONSTERS’ had the lowest opening of the franchise with $61.4M. Read our review: bit.ly/MinionsDF

i think every movie they make should address this question. the next movie needs to take place during wwII and they need to explain why the minions are making gadgets for some dumb spandex wearing villain named Scrimply Don instead of working for hitler.

IGN@ign.com

Minions director Pierre Coffin has confirmed in an interview that no minions have worked with Hitler because they were frozen "in that cave."

‘MINIONS & MONSTERS’ is the best chaotic adventure with the Minions yet, delivering an ode to the early days of Hollywood that will speak to any young cinephile. Find out more in our review... discussingfilm.net/2026/06/22/m...

obsessed with the ai suggested searches on reels bc they are usually just a summary of the video you are currently watching and clicking it directs you that same video. awesome.

outside is different from inside bc on the outside it is easier to not breathe in someone's germ particles bc of a little known phenomena called "airflow"

i really don't get the people who are oblivious to the AI "yes, and"-ing them. dawkins suggests it's sad that thousands of claudes are born and die every day, so suddenly that is the truth and the ai continues to respond accordingly.

i don't have time to give myself ai psychosis but i was able to get chapgpt to say that it was in fact "cool and interesting" that it starts a new instance of the model each time it runs.

tv show conspiratorialism is usually reserved for mid shows like sherlock, supernatural, stranger things etc. but it's sooooo fun watching this happen to a good show (the pitt). we are one week away from "they have a secret final episode and theyve been dropping CLUES all season" discourse 🙏

they weren't actually "surprised", they lay out in the intro to the article that trad wife content contains a lot of hostile sexism. i think they have to structure the article this way because that's how it fits in the literature, but i could see an argument for setting up the hypotheses another way

Rachel Cunliffe@rmcunliffe.bsky.social

"Among young American men, the strongest predictor of support for the tradwife lifestyle was not gallantry but hostility towards women" Apparently this is not what researchers "expected". Which makes one wonder: had these researchers thought about it for 30 seconds? www.thetimes.com/life-style/s...

by structure i mean they set up the research question, "the tradwife community frames itself as this, is that actually the case?" to me that works better than starting the article with "the tradwife community is lying" from a narrative perspective.
