Temporal values support coming to Svelte Inspect Value soon 🗓️🕒

Potentially obvious answer, but which one is better? The idea is that text color indicates what type a value has, even if the preview (non expanded object) shows a stringified representation. One screenshot uses the designated date value color and the other uses the designated string value color.

I’m about 95% done with the new docs page 😎

Astro Starlight is really cool. If I find the time I will probably redo the documentation page for Svelte Inspect Value in Starlight next year.

me sowing: haha i love working on my open source library me reaping: *writing docs* this sucks what the fuck

I wish I found AI exciting. I would have a Really Cool Time™ right now, but I'm instead I'm having a "not really feeling it" kind of time.

Hacking away at a TypeScript rewrite / port of zzz.dog and I somehow got perspective working okay. (This is also a #svelte 5 wrapper for the port with reactive inputs) #zdog

maybe i should finish this

Work-in-Progress color picker with history that only adds new entries when the new color is perceptually different enough from the previous color (using ΔE-algorithm from colorjs.io) Apparently bright greens are almost all the same!

coin flipping app where there is a chance for fumbling the catch and having the coin roll under a couch or down a grate and sometimes, very rarely, land on its edge

Regardless of what you think of LLMs – this is terrible UX. What the hell is the point of a tool outputting multiple paragraphs about how it never should have been sold?

😬 I think I broke my Cursor

If my toaster messed up and then started saying «I am incompetent and should not exist» I would have burnt toast *and* an annoying appliance. I guess Cursor/Claude was prompted for a response to a question, but why is it so verbose? It’s amusing but moreso completely pointless and unhelpful.

Computers are tools/appliances and LLM-companies are making them into weird, hallucinating people-simulators that like it when you say «please» and «thank you» and word vomit when you ask a critical question.

Svelte Inspect Value finally has built in persistence for Panel settings and state (disabled by default.) It can even sync between tabs if that's useful somehow.

Spent time learning about SVG filters today because GLASS I don't think I want it to be a thing on the web (or my phone) but it looks so NEAT

I’ve made Sveltest a thing 🫣 sveltest.dev This is documentation for getting started using vitest-browser-svelte in your projects I’m currently going through the docs sveltest.dev/docs/getting-started comparing with what me and my team are doing “real-world” and validating Contributions welcome

Svelte Inspect Value 0.8.0 is out! github.com/ampled/svelt... Release notes summary in emoji: 🔎🔦⌨️🐛⚡️ Unless I decide Inspect needs an "edit mode" this should be the last big update in a while. I think the code needs some cleanup. I should finish the custom components API, though.

Here's a slightly outdated video demonstrating the new keyboard navigation and search:

i am the pokeman!!! good god i haven’t tried this hard in a videogame in forever and won’t attempt this again but now i know that with enough terrible time management and inability to focus, anyone can beat enough children in a trading card game app and claw their way to victory. ps: snorlax owns

Working on search for Svelte Inspect Value. Probably not gonna be done for a while but it's looking okay but I want to make sure it's at least somewhat performant before releasing. 👀 🔍

Svelte Inspect Value @ v0.7.0 introduces Inspect.Panel: - Positionable, resizable Drawer that accepts all the same props as Inspect - Use the utility function `addToPanel` to set "global" values - Neat place to put other debug-tools you use (renders children) github.com/ampled/svelt...

I went with "Inspect.Panel" for this, mostly because of utility functions that will work with it it needed DX-friendly names that the other suggestions didn’t quite match. It’s released on the next-channel but I’m taking my time making the docs better and fixing some bugs with the base component.

Help me name this variation of Svelte Inspect Value: - Inspect.Drawer - Inspect.Fixed - Inspect.Global

I’m not super into cars or planes IRL but I love cool fictional vehicle design. Toriyama comics and some Ghibli movies are amazing for this, and the ones by Shaun here are def in the same league.

Better quality pic of the last post. Added some extra bits too.

I truly went out of my way to make the most dingus API for this release. I've been hacking away at this for some weeks and gave up like two or three times and then suddenly it all came together in its horrible beauty. All because I refused to come up with a single reserved prop-name for config.

Svelte Inspect Value 0.6.0 introduces another version of Inspect: <Inspect.Values /> It's mostly the same component but instead of a single `value`-prop it will inspect any value passed to it via any prop! - docs: inspect.eirik.space/getting-star... - playground: svelte.dev/playground/8...
