Qobuz decided to cease and desist an unofficial Linux client while offering none of their own. So much for being a "better" streaming service.

Finally ditched my Google Homes and got Home Assistant Voice set up. After putting a bit of thought in, we realized we only used about 4 functions regularly. Feels good to move towards more self hosting.

Obsidian Sync now has a headless client, so you can sync vaults to a server without using the desktop app. Try the open beta:

I can’t even keep up with this talk, they just showed two different(?) PoCs that spoof perfectly credible signatures from Satoshi and Angela Merkel. The talk started with them booting a spoofed Fedora ISO after checking the signature. 14 vulns, 9 unpatched.

Decided to do some #AdventOfCode in Zig. Continuing my tradition of learning more about a language I haven't used extensively, and there is something alluring about Zig.

We just hit 1M+ daily queries on Kagi! It might be a drop in the bucket by comparison, but with Kagi, each search is intentional, user-funded, free from ads and surveillance, and designed to serve you. Thank you to our community. Here’s to many more milestones together.

I've only done a bit of Gleam, but interesting to read cases like this. Will probably reach for it on my next personal project that calls for it.

“We do have systems that are written in mainstream programming languages like Python and JavaScript, but our strategy is to pick the best tool for the job, not just the most popular. Gleam was a good fit for our requirements.” Read the whole case study here: gleam.run/case-studies... ⭐

If you want to start a community, the best tips I can give you are: DO - Have a code of conduct - Get moderators once your community gets past a certain size - Make it about the members, not yourself DON'T - Expect people to see the world the way you see it - Ignore feedback from community members

Does anyone have experience using GrapheneOS while still using some Google services? Still on the fence and I'd be interested to hear some thoughts. Can't completely degoogle at this point.

Set up a self hosted service Realize I should create a better back up scheme Give up and look into better cloud options Register for cloud service Why am I paying for this cloud service? Look into self hosting options...

A lot of my infra workflows live in Slack threads, docs, or buried in shell history. That sucked. I've been building Atuin Desktop. Local-first, CRDT-powered, executable runbooks - with integrated terminals, sql queries + monitoring blog.atuin.sh/atuin-deskto... Lmk if you have any questions <3

Today is World Art Day, a celebration of creativity, imagination, and the power of art to connect us all. We're very grateful to all the wonderful artists who participated in the Kagi Doggos competition: help.kagi.com/kagi/support...

I'm liking that sr.ht isn't trying to be a GitHub clone like every other alternate forge. Will try it out for a little while, but at this point I'll probably be switching to it. GitHub's almost monopoly could use some good competition. #sourcehut

I've been away from the Linux desktop space for several years now. #Hyprland has been a pretty enjoyable experience after getting over the initial learning curve. It's nice to have a dev environment refresh to keep up motivation.

I like that it forced me to learn more about the various components of a Linux desktop environment that you take for granted when using KDE or GNOME.

jj vcs seems really cool, but the current authentication situation is rough. Once it gets ironed out a bit I'll definitely give it a serious try. #JujutsuVCS #jj-vcs #jj

Got #NixOS on the laptop, Nvidia offloading wasn't as much of a pain as I thought it would be. Everything seems to be working smoothly. Dare I delve into #hyprland?

2024 Recap: Created two small #neovim plugins, reworked my dotfile management, tried out several different shells and landed on elv.sh, did some contributions and sponsorships to open source projects I enjoy, and explored several new programming languages. Overall feel pretty happy with my progress.

@jdx.dev I've got mise up and running on Windows through @elv.sh shell now, I appreciate the recent work on Windows support. My Windows, WSL, and bare-metal Linux environments are so much more unified than they have ever been.
