I'm about to revive my old computer just to push my sessions into Atuin.

atuin v18.24.1 is now out with support for Omp! More harnesses to come

Ellie Huxtable@ellie.wtf

atuin v18.24 is out now! ๐Ÿขโœจ including "atuin threads": sync and search your ai threads across devices, and resume them anywhere you can start a thread in Claude on your server, and pick it up in Codex on your laptop run "atuin resume" to get started

Super excited for this, hopefully support expands to more coding harnesses!

we've also exposed this over mcp, so your agent can search all of its history! i have claude dig through my prior art _all the time_, and it's super useful

otherwise this release includes - faster daemon startup and history indexing - a better Hub UI, with improved login - unified and movable Atuin data with ATUIN_HOME - a bunch of PTY proxy fixes and improvements

coming in atuin v18.20 ๐Ÿขโœจ autocomplete, from your shell history with support for standard shell completions!

atuin v18.19 is out now! ๐Ÿขโœจ - search is more than 5.2x faster - self-signed certs and system cert stores just work - atuin update is a built-in command Get the latest with `atuin update`!

Ellie Huxtable@ellie.wtf

coming in atuin 18.19 ๐Ÿขโœจ search 1,000,000 commands in under 2ms we switched from nucleo to frizbee, and search is now 5.2ร— faster, with better result quality

We've migrated our TLS backend from rustls to native-tls, meaning Atuin now uses your operating system's certificate store. This fixes atuin for self-hosted servers behind self-signed or internal CA certificates, and on corporate networks with TLS-intercepting proxies

If you're running an old config, switch to this with atuin config set daemon.enabled true atuin config set daemon.autostart true atuin config set search_mode "daemon-fuzzy"

Previously, atuin update lived in a separate atuin-update binary installed alongside Atuin. It's now part of the main binary, and lays the groundwork for automatic updates in a future release.

We've replaced the search with frizbee, a SIMD-accelerated fuzzy matcher that benchmarks meaningfully faster than our previous engine (nucleo) for our workload. Results are now ranked primarily by match quality, with frecency (how often + how recently you ran a command) breaking ties

Atuin is easily my favorite productivity tool of recent memory and here we have the second material improvement (the other being syntax highlighting) in what feels like as many weeks?!?! This is what actual good software looks like IMHO.

atuin v18.18 is out now! ๐Ÿขโœจ highlights include: - syntax highlighted commands in interactive search - much faster on large histories - filter history by shell - bash-preexec now included out of the box get the latest with 'atuin update'!

coming in atuin v18.18 ๐Ÿขโœจ shell history is now syntax highlighted! - on by default - supports custom themes use it now with `atuin update --prerelease`, or wait for next week's update

Love the product and use it daily, and I'm glad to see that the server component is written both in #ElixirLang and #GleamLang (will read the source later this week).

One thing I love about tools like jj and atuin is that they take things (dvcs and shell history) that are assumed to have well known good enough solutions and show that there's still room for significant improvements to be made

Finally had a chance to use #jj-vcs to address a complex problem, and I'm never going back to plain git. Absolutely unreal how easy it made things. It is indeed simpler, safer, and yet more powerful than Git alone.
