1st: this is obvious bullshit (as parent of a child more than 2 years into a reportedly 3-year wait). 2nd: "the % of seven- to 18-year-old boys w. autism rose from 0.2% in 2000 to 4.7% in 2025." NO IT FUCKING DIDN'T. The % *diagnosed* rose. The % of autistic children probably didn't change!

Yes, a better understanding of autism and ADHD will place a burden on the NHS and education systems. That is a reason to BETTER RESOURCE THOSE INSTITUTIONS, not to penalise children whose parents can't afford private diagnoses or make them suffer for 2 years before any chance of accessing support.

The story is infuriating, but so is the reporting. More children are being diagnosed because the diagnostic criteria have improved, and because parents and teachers are better educated and able to spot issues. What would previously have been called "naughty" or "acting out" is better understood.

I just love to see my cool, clever and talented friends being cool, clever and talented!

right would anyone i know with a podcast/stream/blog etc be up for letting me come talk about kraldum a bit? we could chat about archaeology in games, or designing around unique settings, i could do a mudlarking finds show and tell, tell you some river ecology facts, whatever feels fun

Sorting out my kid's hearing aid might break me. Aid issued in Lancs; we now live in Brum. Can the hospitals share records? Apparently not. Has it been fixed by Brum after I was told it was impossible? Apparently. Will they give it back? Not without an audiology appointment. Waiting time? Unknown.

Look, I know it's easy to have a pop at Starmer, but that was an incredibly honourable resignation he was forced into kicking & screaming, & his words that everyone who disagreed with him was morally bankrupt & his appeasement of fascists & transphobes was for the good of the country was v. moving

Long and detailed conversation with the 7-year-old about why we still have a King (they're studying monarchs at school), leading to discussion about electoral democracy, leadership, traditions etc. Agreed that we don't think it's sensible to have a King. 4-year-old's solution? "I should be Queen."

I have said it before and I will say it again. A three generation global moratorium on men running for office or being hired for top jobs would do us a great deal of good.
