Red C SBP poll. Lowest Red C ever for FG. What happens if a party comes from the pack to overtake FG or FF? SF 22% +1 FF 15% +1 FG 15% -3 SD 9% -2 AÚ 8% +1 II 8% +3 PBP/S 4% +1 LP 4% NC GP 3% NC IND 11% -2

Not good, can imagine in Referendums especially loads of bad faith actors will be putting up all sorts of lies and drivel.

Irish Electoral Commission told political parties there is no need to declare posters as political advertising under EU 2024/900 if they are put up by volunteers #mastodaoine #speirghorm #iepol (cost declared to SIPO) Printer and publisher on poster requirement repealed

From ‘Days of Blue Loyalty’ p. 26. The reason was simply that FG couldn’t find credible candidates in the other four constituencies (the source cited is John Whyte’s book Church and State in Modern Ireland). FG was rescued from possible oblivion by getting into government after 1948 election.

There were 5 by-elections held on the 4th of December 1945. None of them had a Fine Gael or a Labour candidate running against each other. Was there some kind of electoral pact between Fine Gael and Labour, giving the other party a free run?

FG only stood in Clare where the by-election was caused by the death of oa FG TD Even with no Lab candidate they didn’t stand in Mayo South or Kerry South It wasn’t a general party policy though. They stood in Cork Borough in 1946, a by-election caused by an Independent (albeit FG gene pool)

An unusual leaflet, Bilingual with the candidates name Séamus Cosaí Mac Gearailt on one side agus as bearla Séamus Cosaí Fitzgerald on the other. Wonder what name was on the ballot paper?

A Belfast split from The Belfast CYM (who accused the splitters of being a "Maoist tendency"). They also seem to be an "adult" grouping as the Connolly Youth Movement's split with the CPI meant no default path for ex-youths.

#speirgorm - de we know anyone involved in local politics/services who might be able to help a Swedish woman in acute need in the Rosslare area? She moved to Ireland over the weekend but her accommodation turned out to be a bluff, deposit and rent gone, she needs somewhere to stay urgently.

I strongly condemn the unwashed laundry in my laundry basket. I strongly condemn the soup stain on the kitchen floor. I strongly condemn the dirty dishes... Weird. It didn't get those chores done. Condemning shit is not action. It achieves *nothing*. It's a meaningless substitute for action.

The European Union has said that it "strongly condemns" an attack the previous day by a group of Israeli settlers on visiting European diplomats

Dozens of masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers trying to gather their autumn olive harvest. Heidi Levine, a veteran photographer for The Post, was also knocked her to the ground, kicked repeatedly and stripped of her camera and phone.

Was looking at a relatives condolences on rip dot ie. Originally from Kerry, Danny and Michael Healy-Rae are there and former FF TD , now of Independent Ireland Thomas McEllistrim is there too. Had a look at a few different Kerry condolences and the messages from all 3 seem the same.

Feel terribly sorry for Patrick O'Donovan and hopefully he recovers fully. As an epileptic myself, aside from medication, simple stuff helps like getting a good night's sleep, eating regularly, not overly exerting yourself and drinking in moderation or not at all.
