UK communications regulator Ofcom has said there is no single technical or regulatory solution to the issue of Republic of Ireland television content being blocked in Northern Ireland.

Note how you NEVER see an expectation or suggestion that prices will go down, despite companies trying to get rid of more than a quarter of their workforce because they don't want to pay them. AI's only purpose is to turn the wages of workers into profit for capitalists.

More the fool I, but I really didn't imagine the current regime not simply leaning in to racism but braying it from every rooftop. Fuck RFK Jr., fuck his wife, and fuck anyone—anyone—who thinks that the Republican party deserves anything short of oblivion.

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Lula got his first mobile phone last Wednesday. He’s 81 in a few days. 10% of Brazil are in his WhatsApp groupchat. El Pais journalist in Latin America, Nicholas Leal joined us to talk about his historic comeback. Out now.

"Goys! Goys! I've got it! I'm gonna get on to the Journal, roysh, and I'm gonna talk about SALLY ROONEY'S EMISSIONS!! That'll put the Trinners wagon in her place, eh Fionn? Lolocaust!!" For those not paying attention, Ross O'Carroll-Kelly was a documentary.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

I fucking hate the fact that, in the year 2026 in what the government tells us is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, some Irish children are still living in poverty. It's just wrong.

Ireland has some responsibility on this. One of the greatest contributions we could be making to collective EU & global democracy & security (far more useful then disastrous attempts to remove the triple lock) would be having the courage to step up to our role as digital regulator in a serious way.

Adam Schwarz@adamjschwarz.bsky.social

Lula: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. We cannot have monstrous companies earning millions... not paying taxes... wanting to steer elections."

What's striking to me are the rules of engagement and the methodology of action here, which more or less is predicated on burying liberal delusions about "debate" or the "marketplace of ideas". The rules were ultimately very simple: amplify your own message and suppress your opponent's.

Reminds me of how important Repeal Shield was during the 2018 referendum. The amount of mental space that was freed up by just ignoring the anti-choicers instead of trying to argue with them. It let us focus on putting forward our own points

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

You there! Yes you, follower of this account who knows about clothes in Dublin. I need your help. I want to buy a cord jacket. I accept vintage or new equally, as long as it fits. Local or EU with shipping, who will sell me this best? Links to jackets appreciated, but even shops/sites are ace

Any journalist fancy asking the minister why she's so keen to associate with a company that did its utmost - again! - to detail free and fair elections? And that's before we get to Musk's personal spend on the mid-terms ...

I said this to @tonygroves.bsky.social on the Tortoise Shack last week - forget winning debates, stop playing on your opponent's home turf, and start presenting a viable, inclusive, sustainable alternative to warmed-over fascism.

it's literally this simple - I mean, have you SEEN the fucking idiots progressive parties keep getting beaten by? Stop engaging with them in good faith (they don't), and just start incessantly repeating what you will deliver - homes, healthcare, childcare and dignity for all.

Saw a great quote from a Brazilian (ironically on a site which tried to steer the election for the fascists). “The streets have no algorithm!”

Sinn Féin morning meeting today: - Did you see the election results in Serbia and Brazil? - Oh I did aye, very unexpected. - I wonder if there's any lessons in that for us? - Let's go ask Matt Carthy, and maybe check Peadar's tweets, sure he's a gas man, Peadar! - Bang on.

The full story here needs told globally In 2024, students began protests. In 2025, the movement evolved into sustained, civil disobedience - from road blockades to mass demos. In 2026, the protesters formed their own political party. Weeks later, they turfed an authoritarian from office. Resist.

I won't tell you to suck it up and vote for the left parties if they're falling short on issues that matter to you. I am gonna tell you that picking the one that offends you the least, and working to improve them is a better use of your energy than lamenting the absence of your perfect party.

With the combined polling of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Sinn Féin exceeding 50%, the idea that the government shouldn't silence civil society to please their own voter base is now a minority position among the political establishment. NOW is the time to join a party. Not after we've already lost

The fact that these wankers don't know the difference between *selling* six and a half million books and *publishing* six and a half million books means that no serious outlet should quote their dribbling ad hominem nonsense. Everything doesn't have to be this fucking stupid all the time.
