Too often, the response from our elected officials and leading institutions has been meek, hesitant, and reluctant. That is a disaster, because it almost confirms the allegations from the right: that no one *really* wants to live in a truly pluralistic society of equals.

We need more than just policy reforms in response. We need a broader idea of the society we want to create to match the right’s vision of the hierarchical ethnostate, and we need a commitment to pluralistic democracy that matches their fury.

Something has really bothered me about the Gloria Steinem discourse—something that's not really about Gloria Steinem. So, I wrote about it.
