i really can’t bring myself to care about AI anthropomorphism debates. “is AI thinking?” i don’t know. is a calculator calculating? questions for the philosophers. what’s important is that we put sam altman in prison.

Jake Tapper (moderating the 2028 Dem primary debate): Final question. Do you renounce the Western Massachusetts lesbian bar? Pete Buttigieg: I renounce it. Kamala: I renounce it. AOC: I renounce it. Gavin Newsom: I will be deploying the National Guard to Greenfield on day one of my administration.

ohhh i see. so the article is incomplete? you're gonna take it down until you're done then, right? OTHERWISE I have to assume that USAT thinks journalism is about taking statements from "multiple sides" and publishing them all independently without performing any synthesis/meaningful analysis?

Hey. I appreciate that question. It’s a fair one. So, I have more work coming that highlights the work that organizations do to support trans people and fights to protect their rights. That is next in the coming days. We plan to cover multiple sides of the ongoing discourse. More to come.

it’s almost like rich people love government assistance as long as it’s hidden within a complex bureaucratic system…. Gov intervention that helps corporations and the wealthy is called a “tax deduction” while gov helping normal people is called an “entitlement” hmmmmmnnn

Weird how much discourse around the Mamdani grocery stores ignores the existence of the Green Cart intiative (launched under Bloomberg) that provides subsidized fruit and vegetable stands across the city under the exact same logic as the grocery stores

“Without being a far-left progressive” what is a far left progressive and why is it so bad to be one. what does it mean to help the people. what do any of these words mean to any of these people

idk how but i feel like trump is about to try and argue that due to 2020 election fraud combined with a previously entirely unknown Constitutional loophole blah bah blah.... he's runnigng in 2028.....

he's gonna be like "i already proved the 22nd amendment wrong. I was elected more than twice if u count 2020. therefore, i am personally immune to the 22nd amendment and am eligibel for unlimited terms in office"

Eventually reaches Supreme Court. Only 3 justices directly reject argument that the 22nd amendment should be read as as a predictive claim which can be rendered inoperable if disproven by later events.

Skip the disappointment at your next pool party! This Memorial Day, shop at Old Navy for up to 80% off on mix-and-match swimsuits that won’t make you shave your bush.

what REALLY is the difference between buying an election and buying your professor a burrito bowl from chipotle as a thank you? I’ll wait….

Between this and the bribery case a couple of years ago, they've really decided to let Kavanugh be the point person on *allowing billionaires to buy politics* and *unvarnsihed public corruption.*

FWIW, the example of a Textual communication is a 2021 iMessage conversation between two characters from Infinite Jest. (This makes sense given the obsession with using endnotes shared by legal academics and David Foster Wallace)

I was on board w/ demonstrating how to reference a specific TV episode by citing to Remedial Chaos Theory (Community s3, e4). What threw me was when i noticed the example of a reference to Audio/Visual Comms citing to 2015 Zoom Call between "Jeffery Winger, Abed Nadir & Troy Barnes, et al."

“Beyond court reform, Americans have to reacquaint themselves with constitutional thinking — with the idea that we, the people, make constitutional meaning... [T]he Republic — and the Constitution that brought it to life — is meant for us. It is ours to interpret and ours to transform.”

John. You are 61 years old and trying to reclaim a senate seat you lost in 2008. Aren’t you tired? Go sit in a rocking chair for a while. You might like it

Republican New Hampshire Senate candidate John Sununu says he supports a work requirement for seniors on Medicare: "I certainly support a work requirement for able-bodied Medicare recipients."

Love to read that they’ve knocked another pillar out of the voting rights act in the morning and then to take my Con Law final exam in the evening….. I feel so insane :)

Handy definition if you want a framework where it’s impossible to demonstrate that a nominally democratic government is acting as an authoritarian state.

Douthat’s definition by exclusion means a state that maintains the appearance of a legitimate democratic process cannot be affirmatively labeled authoritarian. Election that maintains the status quo is non-dispositive; election that removes current government is necessarily non-authoritarian.

Adam Liptak evidently thinks that if you are born in the U.S. to non-immigrant parents your citizenship relies on… something other than birthright? Brain dead take that seems to imply a higher burden for establishing the citizenship for children born to citizenship??

Josh Chafetz@joshchafetz.bsky.social

Adam means that she is the daughter of immigrants, but it is worth emphasizing that *every* U.S. citizen who has not been naturalized is a birthright citizen, either by the 14th Amendment or by statute.

Feel like this was an immediate flaw in the governments position. You cant rely on such a bad reading of Indian citizenship cases with Gorsuch on the bench

ElieNYC@elienyc.bsky.social

OH HELL YES. NEIL GORSUCH, THE LAST JUSTICE OF THE MOCHICANS, ASKS "Do you think Native Americans are citizens of the united states." IF YOU TRIP GORSUCH'S NATIVE AMERICAN WIRES, YOU LOSE. GOOD DAY, SIR!

This is an entirely new concept to me?? but also…. looks exactly how I would imagine “fossilized dinosaur foot” to look? Like weirdly consistent with the books I was reading as a dinosaur kid in the 90s?

Holy shit, that is an incredibly preserved hadrosaur hoof

1) rings true for me - i toured my college on one of the first beautiful days of the year. I remember thinking the vibes were great and everyone was outside. 2) I also visited some colleges that I hated, despite the gorgeous weather. I think there are some factors that weather does not outweigh.

Adam@adamshap.bsky.social

Kids choose where to go to college based on the weather during visiting day..

Just heard a clip of Sam Alito talking about mail in ballots today and he sounds **indistinguishable** from a run of the mill YouTube conspiracy theorist. You can tell his mind is basting in right wing propaganda all day long.

It’s so weird how cis men are always telling me about whats going on in women’s restrooms. you would think if this was such a widespread problem I would have encountered it.

Once I took a wrong turn near here and ended up on the wrong bridge over the Charles (crossing from Cambridge into Boston) and it somehow added an extra 40 min to my trip. I was trying to get to Brookline. It shouldn’t have been like that

Micah@rincewind.run

my dad grew up right outside Boston and is the only person in the family who can drive there mom and I once tried to go to the science museum and missed the turn and took a forty minute detour trying to turn around

@rincewind.run I can relate to ur dad however, as someone who learned to drive in the Boston area. Once my driving instructor spent 2 hours just making me take rotaries in Newton. Every time I thought we were done… oh there’s another rotary

Also once I was in the driver’s ed car and another car passed and yelled out the window “learn to drive!!” I was so baffled… I’m actively trying!!! There’s a giant sign on my vehicle explaining that!!

“Take the T” is correct as long as you don’t want to stay out past 11pm, in which case…. Godspeed….

Micah@rincewind.run

this is correct, if you are driving to Boston from elsewhere you park outside the city and take public transit in
