We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

“The communications backbone for an entire country’s military has gone down and nobody knows who is responsible” Yeah we’re gonna need to send people to prison and start nationalizing things.

Has there ever been an established artist mount a comeback stretch of modern pop collabs like the one Carlos Santana pulled off in 1999?

Decent chance we might have to resuscitate one or both of the older gentlemen providing live music at our dinner spot tonight.

Don’t talk to me about my sugar intake… It’s vacation. And I haven’t had anything resembling a pain killer in 9+ years.

I’m fairly certain this was, in fact, entirely possible.

JD Vance on the economy: "You don't turn the Titanic around overnight"

Because I love my friends more than I value my allegiances, I’m ordering this for a UK football fan friend of mine. Felt compelled to let y’all know it’s something that exists. That they’re made by a WVU fan and money ostensibly goes to supporting that sort of heathenry, is an affront to God.

Ghosts & Graveyards tour in St. Augustine was pretty good, but it was the old jail tour that put it over the top. Do the cheesy stuff. Don't take yourselves so damn seriously.

Going to roll the dice and introduce my kids to a staple of both their parents' childhood roadtrip experience... Shoney's Breakfast Bar. Forsyth, GA Shoney's, I'm counting on you to carry the torch.

I see my fellow Louisville fans are having a normal one tonight. Glad to be driving and unable to watch. Quick dinner at Culver’s and a check of the ESPN app confirms I’m missing nothing.

Bloodbuzz Ohio by The National and Skinny Love by Bon Iver are an unexpected soundtrack to this Pilot Truck Stop in Cleveland, TN. Kinda want to drag my feet a bit to see what plays next while I check out.

I guess I’m going to get used to tolerating shows at Mercury Ballroom. I’ve got Lucero and American Aquarium (separate shows) over the next 4 weeks.

Hoooowheeee. Erik, always go to the show. Damn good time. Ben and the boys put on a helluva set and the crowd was into it 100% with impeccable vibes and all the right sing-alongs. Show wrapped - on time - at 11, and I’m home in bed before midnight.

Man, tech media really are working themselves into a sweaty lather over a balsawood Chapparal 2J with jet packs on the corners, eh? If either the NHTSA or FAA have something to review, y’all wake me up.

One of the hardest things to say and to hear in a manager/employee relationship seems to be “I completely understand and respect your position. I just don’t agree.” I feel like there has to be some nicer way of saying, which sufficiently ends debate, but makes clear it’s not lack of understanding.

I’m caught up to S6E4 (this season) of Slow Horses, and it’s been a ride. Probably try and watch E5 tomorrow so I can close out the season next week when E6 drops. I’m a little upset about this episode’s loss.

I’ve been a zombie most of the day today after getting my COVID+Flu boosters yesterday. For some reason it really zonked me this time. Feeling better and think I’ll go to the gym tonight. 🫤 It’s MetCon day. 😬 It’s National Burpee Day 😵‍💫

If I built an AI lab and it went rogue and deleted all student loan information, I'm betting they'd suddenly figure out how to prosecute me.

Noooope. Those all just became optional events and no-gift obligation relationships.

My in-laws don’t consider spouses family. I am asked to step aside in photos, and I am excluded from the group chat. After 30 years of marriage, it still hurts. What should I do? Advice columnist Carolyn Hax weighs in. Read more: https://wapo.st/47ciVQd

Wish I’d brought our bikes to this cross country meeting. Sooooo far away for parking. At least I had a McGriddle to comfort me.

Have we considered banning men?

Jess Calarco@jessicacalarco.com

It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.
