The hepatitis b vaccine has proven itself over 30-40 years and a bajillion doses. We don’t have to pretend we are starting from scratch here. The numbers speak for themselves.

We continue to skate past a key point here: We already know that every widely available and used Hep B vaccine is safe. There’s nothing to test here.

Prior to 1980 when Hib vaccines were released, Hib was the leading cause of bacterial meningitis in American children under age 5. Around 1 in 200 kids developed invasive Hib. *Every year* there were around 20,000 cases of Hib disease, and about 1,000 deaths.

Among those who survived Hib meningitis, 15% to 30% were left with hearing loss or other *permanent* neurologic damage. Hib is on the rise. People have forgotten how awful it is as a disease. Vaccinate your kids for protection.

As always, exceptional reporting from @melodyschreiber.com!!! HERE IS PHASE 1 OF THE PLAN: We have conversations open with Congress and internationally. SUFS is now an NGO based in Switzerland and our team is headed to Geneva next week. Meetings are scheduled! IN THE MEANTIME: WE NEED YOU.

This is a disaster. The ethics committee in Denmark that approved the Guinea-Bissau study which will withhold the birth dose of HepB vaccine “had never considered medical studies before but it changed the rules in order to vote on this one”. Four members of the committee have resigned in protest.

Today, I started the day debate prepping with my team, then watched my daughter’s soccer game, went grocery shopping, watched my son’s football practice, and made us all dinner. But yeah, I’m totally a “radical lunatic.”

Mike Johnson just told you the quiet part out loud: Republicans have a plan to gut Social Security next year. They’re waiting until after the midterms so you can’t vote against it. Don’t let them wait you out. Make this an issue that matters this November. #HandsOffSocialSecurity

An emerging contageous virus, like a flu virus, will easily spread in the confines of a military base or a military operation…unless the troops are vaccinated. So the brilliant leaders of HHS and DOD decide to stop protecting the troops by no longer requiring flu vaccination. In 1918, before

🎉It's #NationalPublicHealthWeek and we’re READY for a healthier future! Here in Multnomah County, our public health teams work every day to improve health outcomes for everyone. Public health lives in our environments: the air we breathe, water we drink, sidewalks we walk and parks we enjoy. #NPHW

Huge News! Thank you for making your voices heard. The Conservation Alliance posted just 30 minutes ago that they are joining the movement to save the U.S. Forest Service and over 70 businesses have signed on! Stronger together!

Public health is the quiet machinery that keeps society safe: clean air, safe food, honest data, working systems, & people who notice when things look a little weird. It’s not about treating a person; it’s about protecting everyone. #publichealth

It’s prevention, preparation, & the boring‑looking stuff that stops disasters before you even hear their names. Public health is how community stays healthy without you even realizing someone’s been protecting it. #nationalpublichealthweek @apha.org

Public health strengthens our communities and saves lives. But that work takes support. This #NPHW, tell your members of Congress to stand up for public health funding for CDC, HRSA and beyond. Your voice matters! It's fast and easy with our APHA action alert: vist.ly/4xmf2
