Everyone knows Walter as Chekov ("You know grieving was a Russian inwention!"), but I will never forget his magnificent bastard energy playing Bester of the Psi Corps in Babylon 5. (again, the celebrities seem to be passing in clumps)

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Extremely sad, & unexpected. Guy had a lot of range as a VA. Many people have voiced the Loony Tunes characters since Mel Blanc, but Eric was one of the few, if not only ones, who could capture the characters at their loud, shrill, screaming extremes like way Mel could. (and couldn't later in life)

Something I wish more people would realize.

Growing up in the '70s, I was a hardcore Star Wars kid, and Trek was never really on my radar, but then in college I got into watching this "Next Generation" thing, and came around to being a big fan, enjoying lots of the classic media and *some* of the newer works. Didn't affect me at all though. 😎

He has become one ... with the Force. (or maybe he's just making a holographic phone call. I'm not sure.)
