Hey, asking as someone who until recently was an editor at USA TODAY: What the fuck is this?

A new study from @mmfa.bsky.social reaches the obvious conclusion: "The right dominates the online media ecosystem, seeping into sports, comedy, and other supposedly nonpolitical spaces" This is, IMO, the single greatest threat to the left in the US, and the one to which it is most blind.

Packed house in Benaroya Hall last night to listen to Ta-Nehisi Coates! It was such a privilege to listen to this dialogue on highlighting the importance of narrative as a tether between person & place, challenging myths of US nationalism, and the deeply personal & liberatory work of writing.

Attended the wonderful @deanspade.bsky.social’s book release of “Love in a F*cked Up World” last night at Elliott Bay. I’ve seen organizing spaces fall apart because of our messy relationships with one another. Dean’s book provides another tool for us to study and practice. Thank you! 💛🙏

Week 1 at the County ✅ Got to write our MLK Proclamation, which was presented at the annual celebration last night. Turning my sights towards implementing the County’s Human and Civil Rights Commission next. So excited to be hitting the ground running with such a supportive team 💪

Thank you for your service Tammy Morales! Unfortunately, I’m seeing a trend where both Kristen Harris-Tally and Tammy Morales decide not to continue representing my community in the Rainier Valley because the leaders of their party don’t treat them with the professionalism and respect they deserve.

INBOX: Councilmember Tammy Morales announces her intention to resign from the Seattle City Council on January 6, 2025.

Tammy, as a woman of color, almost certainly faced rhetoric and harassment in private even worse than what we saw in Council chambers. None of us safe on the outside has any right to demand she continue to endure it.

Thank you @tammymorales.bsky.social for your service. Tammy is a valiant leader. She is principled, dedicated, and above all, selfless. I have seen firsthand the many sacrifices it takes to serve in an elected capacity as a woman, especially as a mother, and it is not for the light-hearted.

It has been my dream job to serve on this team over the past 3 years. The amount of brilliance we have in D2 and across this city are what give me hope through some very hard days. The work continues!

I'm absolutely gutted. It was extremely hard to watch my councilmember, who championed policy that protected my neighbors and me, get berated, gaslighted, and lied about by her colleagues. I deeply appreciate CM Morales and her team, and I hope they get some much deserved peace
