Not an engineer. Don't have to be one. There's an MTBF or Mean Time Before Failure. For mechanisms, that can be measured in times the mechanism has been used (OR proxies like hours operated). You may not reach the mean. A folding phone is a bad idea for people who don't change phones annually.

My very first smartphone was a Windows phone from back when they were on Windows 6.1 Mobile or whatever. It had a slide out keyboard. By the time I got rid of that phone, every time I opened the keyboard I was gambling about whether the act of sliding out the keyboard would reboot my phone.
