When will we get reflective paint on Minneapolis roads? I have excellent vision and as soon as the roads get wet, I can’t see one single line for shit.

“I hope that people can see that even if you don’t have kids in our district, our well-being is connected...Having a strong public school district has incredible dividends in so many other spaces…this is a great place for us to be investing.” Thank you Becky Dernbach & @sahanjournal.bsky.social

Minneapolis voters will elect at least three new school board members as the district confronts declining enrollment, budget cuts and possible school closures. Sahan Journal interviewed all nine candidates about their plans for the district’s future. By Becky Dernbach

this is decent, but we really just need to ban right turns on red lights in minneapolis entirely. they're equally unsafe for pedestrians at every intersection

Today the Minneapolis City Council's Climate & Infrastructure Committee will be discussing the city's 2-way bikeways and conflicts with right turning vehicles at signalized intersections. Most of these intersections don't have signage prohibiting a right turn through a red light.

Mamdani hosted Boy Throb at City Hall. I cannot stand how online this man is and how well he speaks Hindi 😭

shoutout to the caregiver taking a little boy for a dramatic stomp around our building to work off his grumpy mood :)

Feeling the sharp sting of needing to reengage with fellow community defenders who spent the last six months reinforcing my and my loved ones’ disposability, all while celebrating their heroism in saving us.

There will be a lot of equivocating about all the times search warrants have been executed on members of Congress for corruption investigations and the like, and it can't be stressed enough in how many ways HSI raiding Ilhan Omar is extremely not like that.

The building connected to MN Chippewa Tribe office went up in flames, collapsed ceiling. Reports of fire jumping to MCT bldg. HIGHLY toxic fumes. Mask up, check on your people. Dakota archives are in the bldg. Damage is huge but unknown.

Got rear ended pretty hard yesterday on Lyndale. Everyone was okay, thankfully, but my whole body hurts today. I’ve always been a careful driver (and cyclist and pedestrian) but wow does this put into perspective the raw force that cars inflict on everyone who isn’t in a cushioned metal box.

Agreed. For too long, electeds at all levels have coasted on good intentions and vibes, thinking they suffice for a grand vision for the future, necessary public investment, or the courage to go to bat for anything but private car ownership, highways, and incoherent transit lines.

How did yall get your POTS diagnosed? I’m struggling with inconsistent bouts of nearly fainting when I change positions. Last year, my primary care doctor did a half assed “test” on a good day and wrote me off.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

I desperately need my dog to stop trying to kill himself. Still working hard to avoid a third surgery but gosh is he making things difficult.

I’m sorry, but if you bring gypsum - or any damn mineral below 3 on the Mohs scale at all - to a job interview, you’re disqualified. It’s not hard, people.

Tall people, your short friends don’t want to share an umbrella with you. I appreciate the offer to hold it vaguely above me but I’m drenched

This Strib story is grotesque. It doesn't just impose their familiar landlord/property-management frame here; it reorganizes the hierarchy of harm around it. A shooting rooted in domestic violence is transformed into a "Real Estate" story about the “dangers” facing landlords and property managers.

Hi folks. Do you have any idea how isolating it is to be trapped behind bars? I know writing an anarchist prisoner is psychologically off-putting because what would you even say and it takes multiple steps (stamps, an envelope, etc) away from your computer. But PLEASE. I can make it easy for you:

Gary, Indiana is 77% percent Black. Thousands have been without power for nearly two weeks. Many are without safe water. Yet every data center is operational & using enormous amounts of both power and water. This is what oligarchy looks like. Everyone suffers so the 1% can make even more.

Wow. Proponents of the ICE taser gloves are openly saying that one reason they love the gloves is that they doesn’t leave any marks or proof that they were used, making it harder for people to sue when they’re shocked excessively.
