The first Russian diesel cargo heading for the US left St Petersburg on September 22, two weeks *before* Trump announced the deal with Putin, Windward reports.
The Greek-flagged tanker Minerva Zen carrying 275,000 barrels of diesel/gasoil is due at the US East Coast around 11–12 October.
I’ll leave it there. If you’ve got this far, thanks for reading.
If you feel you can, please share. If you feel uncomfortable doing that, please like any posts that particularly spoke to you. If you feel uncomfortable doing THAT, then if we’re mutuals just DM me telling me you’ve read it.
Thanks.
I'm increasingly disillusioned with the (policy) ideas ecosystem in the UK - it seems like underlying (social) scientific research is less and less influential and there's increasing dominance of PR and pseudo-research.
"As far as I'm concerned, the first thing you can do for me is to chuck all your medals into the biggest bin you can find, because you've never won any of them fairly."
I am a writer of the words & sentences (some funny). I’ve done most things: written gags, speeches, scripts, TV ads - if you require such an individual, then I am that person. Website (here) www.mathew-owen.co.uk any RTs (or whatever they’re called on here) gratefully received. Cheers👍👍
Nick Candy and Holly Valance. Britain’s most expensive house. A £265m sale.
Usual consequence: £32m of stamp duty.
But five small flats were included in the sale. By an extraordinary happy accident, that cut the tax by £18.5m.
The curious sale of Nick Candy’s mansion
A 🧵:
I am trying to finish a book, and one of its themes is the conspiracy theorist takeover of major institutions.
I really need to *finish it* so if RFK Jr could just stop so I don't have to keep going back over edits, that would be just *swell*. C'mon man.
New post:
A global bond market sell-off is causing serious problems for govts + there is growing nervousness about debt levels.
I talked to the brilliant @robinwigglesworth.ft.com to ask how worried we should be and what can be done about it.

One thing about “legitimate concerns” or “legitimate arguments” is that the adjective is so vague and subjective outside of a legal context that it means nothing. Does anyone believe their opinions are illegitimate? I think it’s code for “don’t make me feel bad about this”
I want the Prime Minister to look into a TV camera and say the RNLI are heroes, that we do not change policy by street violence in this country, and that he expects any criminal action to face the full force of the law. That's it. That's all he has to do.
Reform UK has banned some journalists from its annual conference who have reported critically on the party and Nigel Farage.
It includes the Guardian’s City editor, Anna Isaac, who uncovered the £5m gift.

Northern trains showing sterling customer service by not telling the passengers on a train that’s cancelled en route that it’s been cancelled. Brilliant stuff, gold star.
In retrospect, the "Net Zero" branding might be part of the problem, at least at the elite/commentator level. Zero sounds bad and scary. Talk more about generating the unlimited energy we need to power our future or whatever.
RefUK, RW media, & Eurofash are plainly trying to whip up a panic about this. Any serious report must begin by explaining that Ceuta is in Africa - not mainland Spain - and 48k+ of the 50k crossers were already returned.
It is frightening how many still don't know this. Please share on all socials.
Farage is never going to be Prime Minister. For one thing, he doesn't want to be. After all, he'd have to finally come face to face with reality, detail, and the grind of sometimes unpopular decisions – three things he can't stand.
I have seen a lot of NIMBY selfishness in my time, but "my convenience matters more than cancer care" is a new low. Quite seriously tempted to email them and tell them as much.
The deputy leader of Reform UK, Richard Tice, owns a property company - Quidnet REIT.
From 2020 to 2022 it paid Tice and his trust £600k in dividends. Quidnet should have paid £120k of tax on those dividends. It didn't.
A 🧵 with evidence from the company's own filings:
