Billionaire Reform UK donor was in business with foundation linked to Iranian regime. He is moving his tax residency from Switzerland to the UK to make “regular payments” of more than “one or two million” to the party. Reform for sale to foreign money, made from dubious dealings.

This point ⬇️ is rarely raised in the discussion about Jackdaw/Rosebank. The UK is heavily dependent on fossil fuels, but not as much as the headline figures suggest. I know figures cited are global, not UK, but the same principle applies, and electricity was 22% of final energy in UK in 2025.
Electricity is 23% of global final energy but delivers 37% of useful energy and powers 46% of the global economy. We don't need to replace every fossil joule. We need to replace the services. A much smaller task. Great to see the @iea.org’s new Electrification report finally measure this.

"Electric vehicle sales are increasing rapidly, but so too are road transport emissions" The *very* bad habit of only presenting market share as the core metric here means few have any idea how badly transport emissions are rising. There is a real and deep disinterest in the climate aspects

Thames Water line up former Labour minister John Hutton as chairman, as it tries to win over the govt. Hutton left the govt after the expenses and lobbying scandals. Now pursued by TW to fix things politically, TW is financially, environmentally bankrupt.

Thames Water asks creditors for another £2.4bn. Up to 30% of TW revenue covers financial costs. Debt spiral deepens problems, it borrowed to pay dividends. Hedge funds funding TW, hoping to asset-strip, hike bills, govt bailout. Let it go bust. Nationalise permanently.

Big UK banks pocketed £29.2bn in six months while our bills went up! A windfall tax on bank profits would raise £19bn for our schools & NHS. @TheGreenParty's already backing it - sign the petition and tell John Healey to #TaxtheBanks! you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/ta...

Ukrainian presidential advisor Serhiy Beskrestnov confirms Elon Musk's Space X crippled Ukrainian capabilities last night. In other words, the US deliberately sabotaged European defence operations mid-mission. Every country in the world should move away from buying American hardware ASAP.

Palantir didn't have to evade the UK's controls on lobbyists to get astonishing, unminuted access to government ministers and officials, or even to hire them to lobby their colleagues. Why not? Because there aren't any. My column. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

1/2 I recently spoke to @thenerve.news about reports that the Government has spent or agreed to spent at least £992m with Palantir. It’s becoming increasingly clear the British state is in the early stages of addiction to Palantir and all it represents.
Good morning. Just how much have successive UK governments spent - or is the current one due to spend - with Peter Thiel’s Palantir? 🧵⤵️
