Apparently some random US nonprofit made up fake data about our elections, likely AI, a british philosopher posted some of it and now it's blowing up on this site. How lovely.

fernuzz@fernuzz.bsky.social

The ASCOA link makes things worse, actually. Full of nonsensical data like the 60+ electorate voting bolsonaro, which runs counter to practically every poll. I'm guessing poor AI use is involved.

Incredible gender difference in voting intention in Brazil.

Folks are getting mad about this and- a statement can be true in the literal words of it and still be deployed in harmful ways. Like, yeah, it's true, I was trans before I medically transitioned. But that wasn't the question I needed answered or asked. I needed to be asked if I was *happy*.

cozy@bimbotheory.bsky.social

Notice how this fully anti-trans detransition therapy rhetoric is so functionally similar to the "you're valid no matter what, you don't have to transition to be trans" rhetoric that we have all inculcated ourselves to?

"what juniper said was awful" correct "and she is lying about posting impulsively or in anger because it's impossible to type things impulsively the way you'd blurt something out irl" oh god we're cooked. we're ngmi.

Traditional center-left parties that have ever successfully outflanked the center-right and were rewarded for it: 1 (one), up from yesterday's record of 0 (zero).

The NYT story is a great example of NYT making informing readers subordinate to pushing their agenda. If you read it carefully, it's clear that Democrats have largely decided to counter attack by saying Rs are obsessed with trans issues and neglecting things that impact ordinary Americans.

Billie Jean Sweeney@billiejsweeney.bsky.social

The nyt, which has been heavily invested in spreading transphobic propaganda for the past four years, predictably tries to turn the political landscape inside out today, emphasizing anti-trans views, while minimising the positions of those who have taken winning and principled stances

I will just say that there is not nearly the volume of straight liberals crawling over one another telling us cis gay people to shut up and get over it when some shithead straight Dem makes homophobic Lindsey Graham or Trump/Putin jokes

Thinking about how Brazil's electoral administration is so sophisticated and independent that Bolsonaro's only means of combatting it was to (try to) sow distrust in his own reelection. Institutions, people.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.

I watched this video recently that discussed how goebbels stopped pushing for propaganda films early on and instead promoted comedies and romances bc those boosted moral and ppl were more susceptible to propaganda that way and now I cannot stop thinking about "let ppl enjoy things"

Tentar explicar algo complexo pacientemente para alguém com qual você literalmente concorda, e ser respondida como se fosse um debate, é uma experiência canônica de rede social (pelo menos se você for autista trouxa como eu)

Stardew Valley was released 10 years ago by a frickin cishet dude and somehow it feels way less conservatively gendered. Maru wears denim overalls and is an og romanceable!

Things like seemingly harmless NYT consumption are big deals to trans people because transphobia, despite being intense and escalating these days, is an oppression often rendered invisible. Trans people are used to being abandoned by cis people, so even small abandonments have an impact.

I want to preface this thread with a little bit about me. I read a ton of M/M when I was young. I grew up reading M/M books from authors like Anne Rice and Mercedes Lackey. So I am not a stranger to enjoying M/M, even though I now almost exclusively focus on books that center W/W romance.

My main thing I've learned from being a feminist since I was a teen is that feminism isn't intuited by people who are negatively affected by sexism, it's hard worked through critical thought about the experience of sexism, and most people just refuse to learn that and default to prejudices about it.
