There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, “we will survive” Let’s do that some more

If we didn't have FPTP, BC would pretty much never have to worry about a conservative majority. It would be unlikely to ever happen. But the BC NDP knows that fear of the right is pretty much the only thing that can get them majorities, so they keep FPTP. Truly a disgusting and selfish party.

A White-crowned Sparrow fledgling, just starting to explore the world! Including ants, apparently, which it didn't try to eat. Probably still relying on its parent for food. Fortunately, said parent was nearby keeping a close eye on things! -- June 2025 #BirdOfTheDay #Juveniles #photography #birds

a message from the future

Sure, the orphan crushing machine is crushing a lot of orphans, but I'm a leftist and I actually think the power generated by the crushing of orphans is really useful for my work. So it just goes to show, things aren't always black and white.

For the #BirdOfTheDay, theme #Reflection, as well as the alt theme #Pairs here's a pair of 'auku'u (Black crowned night heron) for a twofer! Bonus, these two demonstrate "Periscope up" and "Periscope down" heron posiitons. :) #birds 📷🌿🦉
