Genuinely fascinating how widespread the idea is that Trump can simply walk away from anything and it’ll mostly reset to normal
With oil at $110, I’d guess the equity markets give up another 3-5% over the next few days. And then Trump TACOs. The result? The war will have succeeded in clearing out the Iranian gerontocracy for a new generation of younger extremist Mullahs.

Democrats have had one continuous congressional leadership clique since 2017! It’s crazy! Despite all the political disaster and failure there’s never been a serious effort to put a different group of people in charge, and if you complain about it, they treat you as an obvious crank for noticing.
We crush the republicans for being anti-democratic all the time and this is true but they are much more democratically responsive to their voters than dems are. they have had multiple leadership sets during the time we have had 1 (one)

Mensheviks and Bolsheviks all over again.
We're seeing a lot of divergence in the Twin Cities RR networks. The best ones have stayed relatively open, allow press on the line, and are not screening heavily, and are extremely active as a result. Others have locked down tightly and have shrunk enough to be considerably less effective.
And here's an example of a fundamental disagreement with Will Stancil despite my immense respect for the good work he does. Violence, explicit threat of violence or the implicit threat of violence is the only thing that ultimately forces the opposing team to even negotiate with you.
No, we don’t need violent tactics, scare quotes or otherwise. “Why can’t you just stick to your peaceful nonsense and let us burn things?” Because the consequences will fall on my city and my neighbors. If you try to start something like that, I will try to stop you.
#FreeWillStancil I disagree with him on a lot of stuff, including the precise conduct against ICE and the goal of this political battle, but he has to come back to be a prominent media figure for the Minnesota rapid response effort. What the fuck are they doing?
Okay, I'm now hearing reports of other locals being removed from Minnesota rapid response for interacting with press, as well as some "organizers" instituting onerous screening processes to join these networks. It's time for local leaders to step in. These policies are incredibly counterproductive.

“Opsec” as understood on the movement left invariably means “taking efforts to remain anonymous and ensure no one can see what you’re saying and who you are.” But these efforts are illusory and completely corrosive to the goal of public resistance and open organizing.
Hi Will - apologies if you've addressed this in detail previously, but is your criticism of opsec primarily about protesters not wanting to be filmed, the use of certain tools giving them a false sense of security, or something else?

Meh. An idealist article from people, whose understanding of Russian opposition is entry level. The end of the article sounds like it's from '22. Disgruntled nationalists “will form” the main opposition to Putin? They already have. Prigozhin is dead, Strelkov is in jail.
“I thoughts there were some brakes on the system, but I was wrong.” One year since Alexei Navalny’s suspicious death, political opposition in Russia is more repressed than ever. Here’s what’s going on: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
