Most people don’t choose their browser. But if you use Firefox, then you did, and that choice deserves to be respected regardless of where you live.

More than 100 days ago, we not only published the findings, we actually spoke directly with Microsoft. The answer? They will do more to respect people’s choices only where the law requires it like in the EU.

Most people don’t choose their browser. But if you use Firefox, then you did, and that choice deserves to be respected regardless of where you live.

Earlier this year we published independent research showing how @microsoft.com continues to undermine browser choice through tactics that steer people toward Edge, even after they’ve chosen another browser.

Firefox 157 drops today, bringing back Compact Mode, this time with its own dedicated setting. During early testing many of you shared that you didn’t want to lose density in the new design. That feedback directly impacted this release.

Also in 157: design refinements that include softer tab shapes, updated icons balanced for light and dark themes, and a refreshed color palette inspired by the ‘fire’ in Firefox.

People filing bugs and sharing their thoughts as the design refresh came to life helped shape what you see today, so a big thank you to our community. Update to the latest version of Firefox to see it in action, more here 🔽 blog.mozilla.org/en/firefox/n...

The web has changed a lot over the last few years, and we've been changing with it. Our new Firefox design ships September 29 with FX 157. If you haven’t tried it out on Nightly yet, here’s what you can expect 🔽 1/4

We’ve modernized the look and feel, added themes, wallpapers and widgets, and we’re (re)introducing functional features to make the most out of the space you have. We've always believed that a browser should work around how you use the web, and this release pushes that further. 3/4

We’ve worked with our community to gather feedback before our broader rollout, and you’ll see changes in Firefox that directly reflect what we’ve heard. We’re excited to bring this new experience to life with FX 157. More to come soon. 4/4

First: What hasn’t changed: your extensions, shortcuts, and menus. Everything is still where and how you left them. What's different is the surface: cleaner toolbar, tidier tabs, less visual noise. 2/4

We believe an open web starts with choice. That includes AI models. We’re excited to be partnering with Mistral to bring open-source AI to Firefox Smart Window beta and expand access to France, with French-language support.

This is a fully optional experience that you have to turn on yourself and is separate from your regular browsing. In fact, you don't have to use AI features in Firefox period. You can choose to enable or block features entirely in Settings > AI Controls.

Now in Firefox 154: Smart Window. An optional, privacy-first smart browsing assistant that’s separate from your regular browsing and built to help you get more done.

Smart Window is fully optional, off until you turn it on. Your data stays on your device and is not used to train models. Plus you can edit or entirely delete what it remembers about you.

For years, Firefox users asked for Startpage. A billion+ private searches a year. One of their most requested search engines. Starting today, we're built into Firefox across five European countries. No extensions. No workarounds.

What if the internet was built by everyone? Oh, wait... @firefox.com @404tales.bsky.social

If you've used Multi-Account Containers for years, good news: containers are now being built right into Firefox so you can organize your browsing by context. This is a preview release, so not every add-on feature has made the jump yet. Keep the extension running alongside it if you need it.

Also new: Tab groups on Android (iOS coming soon). Name them, pick a color, and find them as a single card in your tab tray instead of scrolling through a graveyard of half-finished browsing sessions.

There's been a lot of new Firefox feature releases this year and we want to know: what's been your favorite so far? (and why)

"Meanwhile if you want to ditch Chromium browsers entirely then Firefox is an excellent alternative as MV3 and MV2 are both supported." 👀

Google Chrome is looking to finish off the various bypasses that help uBlock Origin and other such MV2 extensions to keep functioning. Edge and Opera could soon follow too. #Google #Chrome #AdBlocker

Not saying you should watch the matches while working this week. Just saying Firefox lets you pin videos to your screen and check live scores from the homepage. Do with that information what you will.
