I'm Flame, artist and bug friend. I draw when I have the time/energy. Often OCs or fanart. Mostly sketches, but I like to make bigger pieces sometimes too. Not publicly open for commissions, but you're welcome to inquire privately, and I might accept. [ flame-shadow on tumblr, bsky, toyhouse ]

The mantis is called the 'rice-pounding grasshopper' in Thailand (ΰΈ•ΰΈ±ΰΉŠΰΈΰΉΰΈ•ΰΈ™ΰΈ•ΰΈ³ΰΈ‚ΰΉ‰ΰΈ²ΰΈ§), from the motion of its raptorial forelegs resembling the traditional manner of pounding rice to remove the husks. This one was drawn with this very brush.

A good demonstration of how absurdly small insects can get. I was looking at a relatively small (2.5 mm) pteromalid wasp and noticed something stuck to its wing. It was an even smaller wasp.

Just played through A Short Hike. I love this #indiegame and recommend it to everyone. You have to experience its charms firsthand: little moments add up into an emergent story unique to your playthrough. Work + life have me a bit burnt out lately. I really needed A Short Hike, and am glad for it.

Q: Would Spinch play with a laser pointer? Or any other cat toys? A: "Sure, I'll play with the toys for a bit if that's what you want. You're going to be the cat in this scenario, right?" [ #flameshadowart | OC: Spinch ]
