I learned a bunch about Football tactics, and I studied a bunch of annoying vector math. Now, I'm happy to report that I now have a pretty robust football/soccer tournament simulator wired up. Next is Handball and then Fútbol Norteamericano

I had a dream about Jean Baudrillard and @rutgerbregman.com getting into a shouting match about whether the 200-metre individual medley was an example of the death of reality or the triumph of human cooperation over artificial constraints. AMA.

I spun this up on my fedora box out of curiosity and compared it against Photoshop (via crossover). The clone is surprisingly robust at first, but there are enough weird things that become immediately apparent for anyone trying to do anything beyond blurs and filters. It's a facsimile but not a tool

This comic was made using the old school Microsoft Chat app that had a "comic chat" feature. We had it on our secure computers when I was an officer, and I saw conversations play out in real time trying to triangulate enemy movements using these comic characters.

Quick math. This has happened at least twice, so for a 75% probability of that to happen... (0.9999)" (1+ 0.0001*n)/.9999= 0.25 n ≈ 26,925.2 I have NOT played that much.

"How's the game design coming?" "I understand now why Rhythmic Gymnastics Ribbon is an elite athletic event and its also bullshit that the IOC dropped the Rope completely."

Can we return to where eccentric rich people did things like faking their own deaths to see who would cry or publishing a book with zero punctuation plus 13 pages of random punctuation marks at the end for readers to "pepper and salt it as they please" instead of crippling a polity's army on a whim?

since California ballots are now out: prop 40 is the billionaire tax, and you should vote yes to stick it to them but both props 41 and 42 are designed to retroactively cancel the billionaire tax because they’re afraid they can’t beat it at the ballot box yes on 40, no on 41 and 42

Some #gamedev fun. I wanted to create an event for Hnefatafl- the Norse chess cousin that inspired the game of Thud! from #discworld. Unfortunately, no publicly available games exist to use for testing, so I made one. My github now has the world's largest open collection of hnefatafl games.

Nope. Giving a permission structure to abandon marginalized people in order to secure our perceived safety is what we are talking about—and it's quite bad, actually. But what are you worried about? Abandoning them is how you win! Enjoy all those sweet winning bigoted votes! Watch them flow in!

The neat thing about this architecture is that, now that it is in place, it's relatively simple to implement a different event in the same vein. Here is an attempt at the game of Go. The games displayed are a bit of nonsense so far, but this can be refined with a little bit more logic.

Here's a bit of #gamedev that was a nightmare but now I'm really proud of the results. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognized chess as a sport in 2000. However, it hasn't been included as a medal event in the Olympics... until now. #chess #olympics

The simulator now plays a decent game of #go. This one also got a nice Pausa de Hidratación between the heats of the round of 16.

The mental image of a gymnast and a power lifter butting heads over the chessboard (presumably while wearing track and field shorts and singlets) is also very funny to me.

One of the conceits of this game is that each polity can only field 10 athletes at once, so an athlete that did Uneven Bars yesterday might be asked to interrupt their marathon prep to play a tournament of chess or go or shogi. It was fun designing the games to be interesting AND without ties.

One of my favorite parts about finishing the coding for an event is that I get to design a new pictogram for it. #gamedev #chronolympics #olympics

Here's some 'fun' math. Most medical debt can be purchased on the secondary debt market for pennies on the dollar. That $276 million could have forgiven about 12% of all medical debt in America. Instead, it was spent to increase that medical debt for all of us- and especially the most vulnerable.

Should I do more nsfw stuff like this?

I wonder if there's any interest in seeing how I work. I admit, my methods aren't the best, and I've been out of practice when I injured my hands. But this might be interesting for some of you. Let me know what you think. This is my best attempt at a underdrawing. I go until it feels normal.

I know I'm living a clean life because my entire timeline is people dunking on Rubio for not understanding the Iliad at all.

As a young girl, my grandmother had a medical emergency on a train. Diverted, she just happened to be recovering in the nearest hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky when the last public execution in US history took place. She didn't attend, but the experience disturbed her for the rest of her days

These were doctors, nurses, and other caregivers delighted to skip out on work to see a gruesome spectacle. This frightened her so much that she begged her parents to risk moving her on the next train so she could escape that horrid place,

but they couldn't because the city was too overcrowded with thousands of tourists that came specifically for the execution. That experience forever shattered her view of society. She had a deep mistrust of strangers because there was no way just people could tolerate such barbarism.

60+ years later, she would shudder while telling to us about gleeful, casual bloodlust of the people who attended. They boasted about the cruel things they said to the condemned man and showed off souvenirs they claimed to have snatched from the corpse.
