⛺ The housing crisis is reaching a breaking point in Portugal. We need your attention. Yesterday, peaceful protests brought together tens of thousands of people across the country - and ended with brutal police violence. Here’s what’s going on. 👇 1/7

This is exactly and disgustingly true. Go Olivia!

The other implication of his run -- that Toronto has slid into flith and chaos because we don't have a white man at the helm -- is the vilest dog-whistling shit, especially since Chow is still working to clean up the mess John Tory and the Fords left behind.

The right knows how to channel the legitimate rage of working class people. The problem is where they direct that rage. It’s not immigrants and trans kids making your life impossible. It’s the bankers and the billionaires with all the wealth and power. It’s time to put the blame where it belongs.

interviewer: can you explain this gap in your CV? linguist: oh, that’s a null phonetic/phonological manifestation of an underlying morphosyntactic realization of complex employer-employee semantics.

question for brooks: what if they are, literally, nazis?

driftglass@driftglass.bsky.social

"Jon Ossoff, my advice to him is, if you start calling your political opponents Nazis, maybe it's time to shut up. That's just not what we do here in this country." -- David Brooks, this evening. Remember, Brooks still gets very handsomely rewarded by the fossilized media for saying shit like this

Milo believed in the Tollbooth, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter — tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. And one fine morning — So we beat on, booths against the current, borne back ceaselessly into Dictionopolis.

The Phantom Tollbooth Quotes@phantomtollbot.bsky.social

Where the tollbooth had been just the night before, there was now nothing at all. He searched frantically throughout the apartment, but it had vanished just as mysteriously as it had come—and in its place was another bright-blue envelope, which was addressed simply: "FOR MILO, WHO NOW KNOWS THE WAY"

the real lesson of the Harlow monkey experiments was that cloth mother should have simply installed an AI bedtime story reading agent into the wire mother so she’d have more time for vibe coding and posting on Substack

Many congratulations to Anne Carson for the well-deserved Nobel Prize! This is also great news for Translation, Classics, Poetry, the breaking of generic and disciplinary boundaries, and the fact that you don't have to fit a pre-existing mould to have a brilliant, successful career.

What kind of disordered thinking must you have to either make a joke about the lack of human contact with your own child being preferable to doing the reading, or apologize for it with “his wife wouldn’t let him”. also, am a parent. There is nothing I would rather do than read my kid a book

Boo!-per Lund@cooperlund.online

I see this as a kind of in-group joke? It's not that he's actually going to do it, I'm sure his wife would keep him from doing it if he wanted to, it's just a recognition of how his brain works that would be amusing to other people who are using these tools.

It’s Trurl’s fault really
