There's a constant low-level discussion on English-language bluesky about the electoral consequences of transphobic rhetoric from left-liberals but I think it's honestly worse than "they might not vote for you", it's more like, you're cutting yourself off from political labor and talent.

I think no matter what's been done already though, we can probably do more as an antifascist coalition! We can't have propaganda going unchecked across entire communities just because most of us don't know the language. Voting materials in every language too! The physical material matters as well.

And to be sure, I know there's been efforts since 2024! And I would love to know more about the progress made, I know New Jersey Dems did a lot to reach voters in more languages for example. I'd Ike to see this nationally, like Angie Nixon's use of Haitian Creole for the campaign, etc.

If the national Democratic Party would act on this, that would certainly be helpful if led by people who speak these languages, we can't be trying to cut through propaganda in a one size fits all way, it needs to be folks who know their communities. If natl Dems won't, I feel like DSA would do this.

A reminder that Democratic losses in 2024 were most strongly associated with higher shares of folks who do not speak English as their first/primary language. It's a staggering pattern. I think the biggest thing the American center to left could adopt from Lula's campaign (Besides the not conceding anything to fascism and just fighting back harder instead) is the use of WhatsApp. Some of you may recall the warnings in 2024 of massive minority language disinformation channels.
