Other than (mild, corporate) theft or emailing the publisher and hoping - is there any reasonable way to get access to a bunch of journals these days? All the big online publishers have monthly fees with capped numbers of downloads, which is some horse shit that will keep Sci-Hub alive and well.

For anyone who has never had the pleasure of working for a Fortune 500 sized company; this is exactly the same way upper management/executives dismiss employee concerns. "Looks fine from my corner office"

CNN: 77% of Americans say economic conditions are poor. That's the lowest of Trump's second term. Is this the 'amazing economy' the administration thought you'd be boasting about? KEVIN HASSETT: Right now the economy does look amazing to me

Wow other cultures are incapable of self government? Why does that argument sound so familiar. Oh that's right: "One ought to cast the utmost doubt on the state-building power of the Slavs" -Adolph Hitler

At the risk of fanning the flames of this: IW appears to believe that harsh criticism of him personally justifies restricting the academic freedom of everyone. If not, I’d like to hear him say that newly minted academics should be free to say he’s trafficking in bigotry.

Even if you (wrongly and terribly) believe transgender youth are being harmed by their parents, should you not still love the kids? 'Transgender kids are abused and I don't love abuse victims' is a take that makes you an awful human being.

Stephen Miller: "All I can say about Talarico is Texas is not going to elect an individual- I can't call him a man, who knows what gender he is- but they're not going to elect an individual, an entity, who's said the thing he loves most are trans children. He's a bizarre, totally unelectable human."

Almost like no one else named is the current president of the united states or something.

WELKER: Trump's name appears throughout the Epstein files. Do you have any outstanding questions about the relationship between him and Epstein? JOHNSON: I do not W: He called the files a 'Democratic hoax' J: What he said was the hoax of the Democrats trying to turn this into a political issue

At a dance class I complimented a woman on her grippy-bottomed socks. “I love the psych ward socks,” I said. And she goes “I call them Pilates socks.” And those, my friends, are the two types of people.

i don’t play pundit and try to guess how stuff will play to voters whose politics generally make no sense to me, but if ending the shutdown was about the important business of getting SNAP benefits and air travel back online, it also rewards hostage taking in a way that seems pretty ominous to me

The best part of the Reagan video saga is that the other point Reagan makes in the full video is that Congress should not limit potus powers in international trade. The run-away tariff point was a boogeyman used against Congress forcing retaliatory policies when Reagan was slow to take any action.

I wonder if there's an organization whose ideals aligned with Free Trade no matter what during the 70s and 80s who didn't want labor rights to force auto-tariffs or interfere with harvesting resource rich economies. Oh... www.heritage.org/asia/report/...

If you ever find yourself entirely doubting the goodwill of humanity like I do seemingly daily, go find a couple thousand of your local punks (or former ska kids). Or even better, a couple dozen at a local diy show. #PUP #JeffRosenstock #EkkoAstral

The President cannot commandeer any local law enforcement. The President does not run the Smithsonian. The monthly BLS jobs report is required by law. Release the Epstein files. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Anyone up for a Holiday? Maybe in Cambodia?

Brooke Rollins on farm laborers: "There will be no amnesty. The mass deportations continue, but in a strategic way. And we move the workforce toward automation and 100% American participation, which with 34 million able-bodied on Medicaid we should be able to do fairly quickly."

I go to bed tonight proud to know how many people are willing to stand up for what’s right — and how few are willing to rally for his hate. Night, all, and let us try to be good to one another — and ourselves.

"You deserve less" is a great campaign slogan for Republicans. Keep it up

Trump: "I don't think a beautiful baby girl that's 11 years old needs to have 30 dolls. I think they can have three dolls or four dolls ... they don't need to have 250 pencils. They can have five."

Does anyone have a good (bi)-weekly update newsletter/page? I'm keeping up as best I can, but trying to relay information wrt exec actions to those with less bandwidth is becoming a hurdle. Regular "these things happened" + short recap + link would be really useful.

Enough is enough. We can not allow this obvious authoritarian power grab to continue. I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to stand up for the Constitution and the American people and join the call for impeachment. thanedar.house.gov/media/press-...
