There are people, even some trans people, who think that we can give up sports to appease bigots. That if we give up on sports, this all goes away. That is a lie. I have reported on this for years, and EVERY state that passed a sports ban as a moderate compromise has gone on to pass worse.

I'm typically very forgiving of bad calls but this is horrendous

What a godawful call. Karlsson gets fully tackled, then takes a one-handed swipe at an already broken stick and gets a slashing penalty? What are we doing? What's going on?

Imagine talking about any other public service this way. Does the government keep public hospitals “afloat”? What about when it gave Marine Atlantic $169 million to support its operations in 24/25? The media does the bidding of those who want to private Canada Post when they adopt this framing.

starting to feel like there's a direct relationship between the growing obsession with lifestyle hygeine (no drinking, no caffeine, no sex, obsessive working out and looksmaxxing) and the inability to meaningful moral stands on issues of actual import

Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj

During a dive last year in the Atlantic Ocean off Argentina, researchers documented a giant phantom jelly, a deep-sea species rarely seen since it was discovered a little over a century ago. “There was a mixture of excitement and disbelief,” said one marine biologist. trib.al/HfkWfp4

The fact that the Canadian government's official statement on the president of the United States illegally invading a foreign country does not include the words "President," "United States," "illegal," or "invade" really tells you all you need to know about where we stand, tbh

Abysmal statement from Canada on the illegal US action in Venezuela. It doesn’t matter how much you dislike Maduro, that doesn’t justify a violation of international law and the UN Charter. You can’t call on “all parties” to respect international law and not call out US lawlessness.

“Elbows up” means Canada standing up for the “rules-based international order” and publicly condemning violations of international law or arbitrary kidnappings of world leaders

This morning, Mayor Sutcliffe held a press conference outlining the modified Lansdowne 2.0 recommendations before city councillors or the public had access to them. That’s unacceptable. Transparency and respect for Council should come before media rollouts.

Lansdowne 2.0 risks giving residents less for more: higher ticket prices, a smaller arena, and higher debt. Similar promises in Lansdowne 1.0 fell short. This round is off to a bad start, and I’m calling on the Mayor to delay the vote until later in November.

I know why Ford wants to get rid of speed cameras - his friends and cabinet ministers are yelling at him about getting fined. But municipalities shouldn’t be going along with it. There’s an adjustment period to new norms, but you’ve got to keep going. People will move on. And streets will be safer.

Within hours, TTC took down the signs installed by volunteers this morning. We'd hoped our helpful suggestions would stick around to help riders navigate. That's why we're asking Councillors to invest in the TTC's wayfinding strategy in the next budget: tttcriders.ca/wayfinding

Two things that stand out watching the Sens this year are how much better they are in the neutral zone and what that's meant for their play in the second period #gosensgo
