I now own a soldering iron with a 32-bit RISC-V SoC inside I think that's pretty cool, but my cars are not impressed

my current outlook on my own work: @ak47.io built "the champagne of beta embedded databases" I'm building the walmart discount wine of database-ish things ... a start's a start.

the thing is, i actually believe that if a consenting adult and a consenting computer want to install unsigned microcode patches in the privacy of their own home, i don’t think AMD should get to stop them

In the process I had a genious brain fart: empty filament spools are perfect for storing tree LED strings, in a way it won't be a hell to untangle!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, AI wasn't used to write the code, just good old brain cells.

Finally done with the log-structured persistent key/value store database thingy that I was writing, featuring "proper" error handling, automatic data compaction, `cargo doc` documentation, lib+bin structure and (not really much) more. Using Rust, naturally (\/)(°,,,°)(\/)

By no means it's a "production-ready" "product", but I learned a lot along the way, and that was the point. Feel free to share comments / suggestions on my botchy code :) Next project in Pingcap's talent plan seems to be Synchronous client-server networking, excited!

Yes, 2025 isn't looking like it will be a great year. Right wing authoritarianism is rising. Global warming continues unabated. The world is as fractured as ever. But at least we can count on one positive thing: it is the Year of Linux Desktop.

divided by borders, languages, cultures, religions united by cancer caused by inhaling soldering flux fumes

This year was really productive for me, I read every single book ever written by Richard Feynman

We updated our CFP for Phrack 72! The deadline is now April 1st 2025. Check the site for specifics on how to contribute, as well as some inspiration! We also posted a link to purchase physical copies of Phrack 71, and a donation link too. Enjoy! phrack.org

I gave up and used AI to help solve #AdventOfCode Day 13... How am I supposed to know what a Diophantine Equation is? /s At least I can report gemini-2.0-flash-exp is pretty useful, especially so for #Rustlang It was the first day I decided to use tests to debug my code though, so that's cool.

Feels pretty good to solve today's #AdventOfCode in #Rustlang without using any AI again. I try to do things The Rust Way™, but damn, that was a lot of println!'s and dbg!'s 😅 I actually left them in this time, so you can go check out my "process" if you'd like: github.com/artogahr/adv...

Replying to @aparker.io

my extremely low-effort jokes _will_ use transport layer security and secure sockets.

This was the first day that provided a proper challenge. Pretty happy to be able to solve it though. #AdventOfCode Day 11 done in #RustLang github.com/artogahr/adv... (my first solution took minutes to run, used all my 32GB's of memory and crashed half-way through)

Doing #AdventOfCode day 6 on my phone during my metro commute because there isn't enough time in the day thank god for Mosh and Byobu

#AdventOfCode day 5 done in #Rust Unexpectedly for me I got both algorithms and both answers right in the first try? I'm not complaining though. Also, I really like when my code is this clean-looking 💚
