Your website should be your ol’ reliable for your comic, your place you can call home. Social media and “webtoon” platforms should be used for crossposting and nothing more! They should never be trusted, they can always disappear tomorrow, but with a website your comic has a safe consistent home!

It reminds me of message board culture, when newbies would start a topic on something that had already been discussed ad infinitum elsewhere, and weary mods would have to politely point out that you'll want to search for an answer before asking a question.

In this case, as in so many others, someone has spotted what appears to be an incongruity in some information online, and rather than explore other possibilities or check whether anyone else has noted the supposed error and expressed similar confusion, they dive right in with their "correction".

Secondly, in our haste to provide that commentary, we have no opportunity to absorb any nuances of the thing we're responding to, and generally express our gut reactions, which may well be based on an error.

First, we seem to have developed an instinctive need to provide our own commentary on everything we see, so it's increasingly rare that someone stops to think, "Does this actually need my input?" We've been trained to express our kneejerk responses.

This whole thing is (once again) fascinating, and I know this *particular* bugbear is one that appeals to me personally, but clearly it is indicative of a wider problem with reading comprehension (not solely in the US!) and the spread of "comment culture".
