New to me and I found 2! I love finding successional fungi, fungi growing on fungi. This has to be one of the more unique I've found. I believe these are Asterophora lycoperdoide, or the Powdery Piggyback Mushroom! More ⬇️ #Parasite #FungiFriends #Fungi #Nature #Guttation

Not certain on ID but I think this might be Ciboria batschiana. It was attached to some leaf litter & a lump pf mud. I now suspect inside that mud was an old acorn. #MushroomMonday #FungiFriends

Thrilled to catch a Rare glimpse of Mealy Pinkgill Entoloma prunuloides NT Longshaw Estate, close to where I found Big Blue Pinkgill last year. Robust creamy Ochre caps, Ochre flush top of stipe. Good indicator species of high quality waxcap grassland #FungiFriends #Fungi #Mycology

Really hope this gets a chance to be seen more widely, UK and overseas. It's a wonderfully accessible and really important documentary. We just live in that sort a distribution climate in the UK at the moment... Anyway, more details here: www.kingdomfungi.co.uk

We hope that some members with an interest in fungi will be at the NNNS foray at Litcham Common on Sunday 25th October led by Geoffrey Kibby, but if you aren't then Norfolk Fungus Study Group member Jonathan Revett is holding a launch party for his new book, British Earthstars on that day...

This honey fungus (Armillaria mellea) is everywhere in the New Forest at the moment - but I like the way these photos show the black rhizomorphs (or ‘bootlaces’) used by the fungus to colonise new substrates and transport nutrients. #fungi #NewForest

7/10/26 #Cumbria - Today’s find was one of my highlights of the year so far. The Date Waxcap (Hygrocybe spadicea) is one of the UK’s rarest #chegd fungi and one that is notoriously difficult to nail down. Hopefully will come across some better examples next time…

A little late for #mushroommonday but I’m so excited to see this on a little foray after work! I think it’s the Waxcap Facepainter, Metarhizium marquandii. Growing on the gills of a Snowy Waxcap. #Fungi #fungifriends 🍄 📸

Spathulata brevipes, the very rare relative of the more common Cauliflower fungus (Sparassis crispa). Found in Hampshire this week. They were massive (approx 50x40cm) & had the most delicious smell which filled the air. Don’t worry I didn’t eat them! This species has wide, fan-like lobes. #ukfungi

A whole bunch of fungi found in East Yorkshire last week - I even think I know what some of them are called although their beauty and intricacy are beyond naming! #ukfungusday tomorrow 10 October www.ukfungusday.co.uk but the fungi will be around for a while longer!

Disappointed but not surprised that no fungi ( or plants) have made it onto the new banknotes. I felt that Calocybe gambosa was a good patriotic alternative to Winston Churchill. None of the animals chosen live solely in the UK but would be considered European. Perhaps that's a good sign.

A lot of the Dactylis glomerata in our field is covered in this rust Puccinia striiformoides right now, which forms bright orange uredinia in narrow stripes. I also found a few plants with a coinfection of Puccinia graminis (I think), with larger warm brown uredinia. #FungiFriends #WildPlantDisease

Male flower on my loofah plant in the greenhouse.Unfortunately no sign of a female flower as yet and it's getting a bit late in the season. A minor ambition of mine to grow a loofah may not be achieved this year but there's always next year!

Hygrophoropsis auriantiaca, False Chanterelle found up at the allotment. A strange find as it is nearly always found with conifers. Then I realised it was next to some waney edge conifer boards that I'd used as edging.
