Exactly my experience! This duology is extremely enjoyable. Even the parts that didn't have me genuinely laughing out loud and busting a gut IN PUBLIC had me grinning ear to ear. This is one of those that made me want to read faster to learn what happens &, simultaneously, slow down just to enjoy.

The Unseen Library@theunseenlibrary.bsky.social

I finally got the chance to review the hilarious fantasy novel, Everybody Wants to Rule the World Except Me by @djangowexler.bsky.social. An amazing novel that had me laughing the entire way through, this book comes highly recommended. unseenlibrary.com/2026/10/11/e...

I just think that if you think you're not making any kind of political or moral point in your writing then you are either a complete moron, or such a boring writer that there's just no point reading you.

Sam Tranum@samtranum.bsky.social

Does John Banville think artists have a duty to take a stance on moral issues? His stand is apparently for amorality. www.independent.ie/irish-news/s...

Vulture@vulture.com

‘Wicker’ stars Alexander Skarsgård as a man made entirely of wicker, complete with a rock-hard wicker dick. But what about splinters? Bacteria? Degradation? Would it be advisable, from a sexual-health perspective, to mount a basket dick? We asked a gynecologist: vulture.visitlink.me/DNQwX5

That moment when you hear about a really cool book (Tell Them of Battles, Kings, and Elephants) only to find it’s currently out of stock/print everywhere.

Gotten past the totally depressing part of The Only Way Out is Up, and now (about halfway through) it’s all sweet and romantic. @djangowexler.bsky.social seems to be good at that. I’m gonna be REALLY angry when I get to the end of this one, aren’t I?

Still making progress on these - mostly Hellebore and Mercy - both are rich and strange with a cast of characters that get their hooks into you.

@gavreads@gavreads.co.uk

I am flipping between my physical ed of The Library at Hellebore by Cassandra Khaw and the physical, audio, and ebook versions of The Mercy of Gods by James S.A. Corey. I’ve also got on the go The Shadow of the Object by Chloe Aridjis (physical) and Our Strange Duet by Erin A. Craig (audio & ebook)

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

My lovely orphan show premiered ten years ago today. So proud of it, love these actors so much, and by episodes 6-8, we were flying. Alas, the BBC Three online experiment at the time was… not great. Would that there’d been two more years. Still a lucky man. What an experience.

The worst thing about Bioware shutting down is the shitty treatment of the people working for it. But also it's becoming clear that they had assembled an absolutely elite team of modern science fiction writers to write the next Mass Effect game, and man it hurts that we'll never get to see it.

Derek Kunsken@derekkunsken.bsky.social

Meeting @catvalente.bsky.social and working with her to pitch story and character and lore and #scifi wonder for this next chapter of the Mass Effect world was the most energizing, in-the-zone collaboration I've ever had. 4/6

Reread this one after many years - still love it. There’s gorgeous writing, a slow-reveal alien mystery, the corrosive effect of lies, & a heartbreaking depiction of mental illness and one woman’s unraveling. A propulsive build to a fantastic ending. “Planetfall” by Emma Newman. #BookSky 💙📚🪐

I’m a fan of horror - the weird and cosmic kind - I also like cosy horror - not a huge fan of gore - so splatterpunk, slasher etc are horror I tend to avoid.

I am reading this right now - it’s messed up in a fun way.
