On thursday my wife and I had the surprise of our lives when a routine DR's appointment turned into my wife getting admitted to the birthing center five weeks before her due date. On friday my delivered our first child, a healthy baby boy. I am awed by the strength of my wife, who is recovering well

The only thing left is for him to be able to eat full meals with his own energy, something that may take a week or two. we're optimistic that he will be home soon.

DRs said that we should expect him to come home on his original due date, about five weeks away. We were discharged and sent home on sunday empty handed, which has been very challenging, but we are reassured he is in good hands.

Yesterday our baby gradudated from the NICU and was moved into special care, which is a lot less intense and no more IV drips to maintain his glucose! From day one he was able to breath and regulate temperature on his own, which puts him way ahead of babies born at this time already

Since the baby was here so early, he had to immediately be checked in to the NICU as babies born this early have issues breathing, maintaining their temperature, and eating. Our baby was also struggling with his blood sugar which resulted in IV drip to maintain it.

Space Beleren was the mascot - and he makes a debut on the box. Unfortunately after the box was done I realized Space Beleren is both unplayable, and is also a miserable play experience when resolved. Since I was committed through the box, I decided to get an altered space beleren to keep him around

The Themes of the cube include a heavy emphasis on themes such as energy, artifacts and landfall. I interpreted the theme as having devices that are communicating through "triggers", and eventually pictured a Lab Maniac surrounded by instruments, or a captain of a ship navigating in a ship's helm

A little background on the cube - I designed this as a desert cube with an otherworldly setting. To establish this setting I used the 17x each of unfinity basic lands and 3x each of unfinity shocklands, one cycle of EOE bonus sheet manlands, and an assortment of colorless bonus sheet lands as well
