Environment and Climate Change Canada using tax dollars to promote fossil fuel expansion, such as that depicted in this sponsored ad, is full throttle sociopathic. It's like Health Canada choosing to actively promote putting rat poison in your lunch.
Hey Alberta: is this incompetence or a full on intentional lie?
9003 Acute Care Spaces is NOWHERE near a record number for our prov
In the late 1980s we had 17,790 acute care spaces in hospitals (~12,000 acute care beds, +LTC beds)
1988: 7.4 beds/1000
2026: 1.5 beds/1000

The right knows how to channel the legitimate rage of working class people. The problem is where they direct that rage.
It’s not immigrants and trans kids making your life impossible. It’s the bankers and the billionaires with all the wealth and power. It’s time to put the blame where it belongs.
Albertans have officially voted not to hold a vote on whether they should leave Canada.
But uh, they also narrowly voted *for* some really gross, anti-immigrant trash that looks to scapegoat migrants for problems they didn’t cause.
So no to separatism, but yes to racism? Yikes:
OUCH. Bloc Québécois MP @patbonin.bsky.social absolutely clears the environment minister in this clip on Bill C-39.
My translation: “It’s sad to see the minister who is giving the impression of wanting to convince herself that the bill that’s directly under her purview isn’t a disaster.
It should be illegal for Israel’s top arms producer to purchase a Canadian company.
Elbit Systems is complicit in the genocide of Palestinians.
Cancel the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement, enact sanctions and a two-way arms embargo now.

After over two years living in Montreal, I can safely say the family doctor situation is absolutely fucked.
I FINALLY got a letter that I got one.
But after weeks of trying, I haven't been able to contact them. Phone? Hangs up, no voicemail. Email? No reply. In person while 'open'? Door locked.
From a systems&transition design perspective, the real failure is having to fight the same battles in every city, decade after decade. The evidence is clear:bike lanes benefit local businesses;deliver #cobenefits.
Why’s progress still so hard? How to change the systems that keep reproducing resistance?
WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you really should watch and share this excellent news story. Ford LIES that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.
Remember and share this as Ford tears out Toronto bike-lanes.
So much of Canada’s oil and gas conversation makes NO sense.
But WHY is that?
Well thanks to a WILD new report from Greenpeace Canada, the network of murky figures muddying these conversations about energy are coming into view:
The Liberals and Conservatives just voted together to attack labour, environmental, and Indigenous rights to fast-track corporate mega projects.

One of Canada’s largest newspapers published what read a whole lot like an incitement to violence against NDP Leader Avi Lewis, prompting widespread condemnation.
Yet for some reason, there appears to be all but radio silence from mainstream Canadian media.
Here's what I found:
As @jameswsthomson.com noted already, the sheer audacity of Carney to begin his oil pipeline announcement by mentioning a wildfire that almost levelled the town.
WHAT IS EXACERBATING THE WILDFIRES MARK???? MARK???
Carney tells Canadians “we have to do this” (??) because there’s an energy crisis on three fronts.
One of those fronts, he says, is climate change.
Which is why we need………a new crude oil pipeline???????
Carney tells us that among the criteria for a project being designated in the national interest, the major projects office considers whether the project “contributes to Canadas clean growth and climate goals.”
And a BITUMEN PIPELINE PASSED THIS TEST?
Then the test is bullshit.
Throwing billions in public money behind a pipeline at a time of climate breakdown – while sweeping aside environmental protections, meaningful Indigenous consultation and workers’ right to strike – is absolutely not in the national interest.
Carney's first-ever project designated as being in the “national interest" is...a crude oil pipeline.
That means the oil pipeline can bulldoze past environmental laws, impact assessments, and Indigenous consultation. It can also kill all of Vancouver's orcas.
Here's what you need to know:
One from the archives
In 1984 Dunnes shop worker Mary Manning refused to handle South African goods & was backed by her shop steward, Karen Gearon. Both were suspended. 9 colleagues came out in support. The strike lasted 3yrs & forced the Irish govt to ban the import of all SA goods. All heroes
Actress Susan Sarandon being arrested earlier today for protesting Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations. One is speaking out against genocide, one is committing it. One was arrested, one was not.
“This bill explicitly gives government the power to end legal strikes when a minister decides that a strike is or could become contrary to the national interest — and the national interest is defined solely by the opinion of the minister,” warns top labour leader Bea Bruske.
Holy shit. This is bad.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Carney announced his plans to privatize Canada’s largest airports.
So, I went to YVR to ask Canadians what they think (spoiler: they don’t share his enthusiasm).
