The most beautiful sentence I ever wrote is being housed in a fireproof box underground. Everyone who ever read it spontaneously combusted in a blaze of glee. I couldn't get prose insurance for years after that.

Can't quite believe how many readers have grabbed a copy and then posted tremendously generous feedback on here. If you give poetry a chance, it might just surprise you...!

Matthew Stewart@roguestrands.bsky.social

No way I can compete with the major poetry publishers who get collections stocked by bricks-and-mortar bookshops But I do have word of mouth and all you wonderful people here on Bluesky, pushing the numbers of readers of Whatever You Do, Just Don't far beyond the sales of the big boys. Thank you!

Young agent tried being a bit pushy. I showed him what helpful looks like by letting the buyers inspector know some problems with house. All you had to do was be polite, but private school boys in their 20s have something prove, and that something is that they are little pricks.

We do need to end #aukus before it costs us even more but highlighting alternatives would give the demand more weight. ... and it's also incredibly dangerous to throw Ukraine under the bus. It alienates our allies in a time where we NEED to look for better and more reliable partners. #auspol

Senator David Shoebridge@davidshoebridge.bsky.social

This is an incredibly dangerous precedent and confirms all the dangers of AUKUS - wargaming Australia as the base for a US war with China - and us even paying for it. We need to end AUKUS before this becomes real.

Past events exist, after all, only in memory, which is a form of imagination. The event is real now, but once it’s then, its continuing reality is entirely up to us, dependent on our energy and honesty.

Didn't see any other coverage of the Pacific Red Lines Read Louise Morris' powerful piece on Pacific Climate Justice Demands

LouiseMorris@louisemorris.bsky.social

If the Pacific’s Red Lines include no false solutions and no extraction, and to phase out fossil fuels, approving #HVO and #Browse on the strength of offsets crosses all of them. A government that signed the Belém Declaration would say no to new fossil fuel approvals thepoint.com.au/opinions/261...

Somehow a town with less than 50k people can find accommodation for, or provides serviced camping sites for 200k people. On average there are around 120k homeless people on any given night. All these people with caravans also have houses…

“Dave gets on the piss”: Edition #219 The Pass Pinot Gris 2025. A decent drop for around $15 retail. Slightly off dry, a typical Gris from this part of the world (Marlborough NZ) We don’t stock this currently but I might stick it in the range off the back of this taste. Decent value. 89/100

“Dave gets on the piss”: Edition #220 Had these at work today. Tar & Roses Sangiovese, Prosecco and barrel fermented Pinot Gris and a Tyrrell’s Rufus Stone Heathcote Shiraz. No tasting notes but all were very good and I’ve put them all into the range (except the Gris which is limited).

Have just had one of my staff messaging on the staff chat. Two young fellas came in, got knocked back because their ID was bogus, so they decided to steal the stuff! In their haste, they dropped their mobile phone, so a manager is now calling their parents 🤣

The best piece of news, after a relentless and brutal attempt to destroy a decent person and make an example of her, to scare others to silence. No thanks to the mainstream, which said and did nothing to defend the principle of press freedom and her right to report fact and express an opinion.

Sixty years ago, a trailblazing sci-fi series that wouldn't have existed if Lucille Ball hadn't intervened, and Gene Roddenberry imagined a better society, capable of dealing with whatever existed where no one had gone before, took flight. Happy 60th Anniversary, Star Trek!👽🚀

This was the video I was looking for yesterday to post. I follow Joshua Wright on instagram because we are both passionate about saving old trees. This was an ancient forest valley that was recently logged on Vancouver Island. They cut down one of the largest Yellow Cedar tree in Canada. 😢
